This is first episode of Lawless Lawyer Korean Drama, Sang Pil decides to return Gisung because his mother Jin Ae was killed in front of him many years ago, and targets judge Moon Sook. Jae Yi returns Gisung as well, because she beat up a judge.
Lawless Lawyer Korean Drama Recap: Episode 1
Sang Pil is stopped by traffic police Moon Sung because his speeding. He takes out cash to bribe Moon Sung, the traffic police rejects first, but asks for money when after going out security camera area. Sang Pil shows his business card showing that he is lawyer, and claims he got the evidence from the camera from his car, when Moon Sung warns to score his license bad if he doesn’t give him money.
A group of thugs hang a accountant and attack him, the accountant begs for mercy, but the boss of thug doesn’t want to stop. Just then Sang Pil shows up with his assistant, and warns to sue them for tax evasions and aggravated assault, after one of thugs attacks his nose. They are scared, except the boss. Just then, Dae Woong takes another group of thugs showing up, and reveals he recommended Sang Pil to the accountant.
The defendant is desperate after judge said that he cannot accept it as a justifiable defense, and puts her into jail for 20 years, even if she protected her child in domestic violence, because she broke the rule. Lawyer Jae Yi asks judge to reconsider the verdict, and says that victim didn’t treat defendant as human in the past years, and broke her ribs. But judge disagrees her justify, and thinks women only know makeup, and shouldn’t show up in court. Jae Yi beats him up after hearing what he said. Judge wants to disbar her, but she says that she didn’t do anything wrong.
Sang Pil gets a notebook from someone, after boxing. Jae Yi gets message that she is fired. Sang Pil tells his uncle Dae Woong that he is going to open a firm in Gisung. Dae Woong asks him if it is because of that woman. Sang Pil admits, but refuses his uncle’s help.
Sang Pil recalls his mother told him not to return Gisung while he parks his car at bridge in the fog, and moves to the place the loan firm occupies that they lived before, recalling that mother told him that lawyer has to fight with law at the court.
Jae Yi has meal with her father Ki Ho and tells him that she got fired after returning home. He asks her if she wants to see Judge Moon Sook trial. Ki Ho tells Jae Yi that he knew why she came back, and show up at the court. Meanwhile, Moon Sook thinks the defendant isn’t guilty to murder his husband. People stand up and applauds. Ki Ho gets a call from someone, but he doesn’t tell his daughter who he is. Yeon Hee tells Moon Sook that Jae Yi punched a judge, when they run into. Moon Sook thinks it was because of misjudged.

Jae Yi’s home is ruined by loan sharks because Ki Ho borrowed money from them, and visits the loan firm. She claims to call cop as she thinks their firm isn’t legitimate, but Sang Pil thinks she shouldn’t make trouble, as she got suspended for striking judge, and says he checked his background, as he is interested in her. She punches him after hearing what he said. Sang Pil tells his followers that they won’t do private loan business, but law business.
He recalls their heretofore. Mother Jin Ae asked him to look for Dae Woong, and not return Gisung. Meanwhile thugs broke into their house, and asked Jin Ae to hand over memory card. She rejects it. They forced Sang Pil to show up, and killed Jin Ae finally. Sang Pil told Detective Woo what they did on his mother, but Detective Woo wanted to buried him. Fortunately, he bit Detective Woo, and fled. Then he found his uncle Dae Woong, and knew he is a thug who beats up others for money, asking him to teach him fighting skill.
Sang Pil visits Jin Ae, and asks her to be his employee. But she rejects it, and thinks he is a bad guy. Then she is released, and knows that her father visited Moon Sook, and asks her for help. Jin Ae visits Sang Pil, and tells him she accepts the position of office manager to pay off his father’s debt. They visit Detective Woo in the jail, Sang Pil sees the scar which he bit on his hand. Jin Ae asks Sang Pil why he wants to help Detective Woo, and thinks he owes him something.
