A man cries in a dark room. He looks at his cursed hands in The Apothecary Diaries episode 5. The next day, Jinshi and Basen fight in the yard. Basen is defeated. Jinshi praises Basen. But Basen knows he’s not the rival of Jinshi. Gaoshun watches the two. He doesn’t comment. Jinshi returns to his palace. He wonders if Maomao gained weight. Gaoshun reveals the girl recovered. Jinshi remembers Maomao got angry when she scolded consort Lihua’s maid.
Jin Shi is surprised after he saw the other side of Maomao. Gaoshun sees that his master cares for the girl in The Apothecary Diaries. Maomao finds some mushrooms in the field. She plans to eat it in the kitchen. But she worries that she will be questioned. She visits Xiaolan with some buns. Xiaolan is excited to thank her friend. She mentions Maomao’s seniors shared snacked with Maomao. She thinks the ladies are gentle. But she doesn’t know Maomao felt burdened when her seniors did it to her.

Xiaolan reveals there was a maid taking down a military officer with drug. Maomao remembers Jinshi hugged her after she gave him the drug. Maomao visits Quack Doctor with the fresh mushrooms in The Apothecary Diaries. He likes the ingredients very much. The two cook the fresh mushrooms together. Quack Doctor tastes the mushroom. Maomao is very happy because the doctor is an accomplice because she’s caught. A man breaks into the room. He looks terrified. He asks Quack Doctor for medicine that can lift curse.
The man shows his cursed hands to Quack Doctor. Maomao takes a look at the hands. She thinks it’s a rash. She offers to use ointment. She helps Quack Doctor prepare the ointment. The man reveals he got the curse after he burned the consort’s clothes. He thinks the flame is demon flame. But Maomao makes the flame after she put something on the flame. The man asks Maomao about his hands. She thinks he got a rash because he touched something on the book. Quack Doctor comforts the man that he will recover soon because Maomao’s medicine is amazing. The man feels relieved after he heard Quack Doctor’s words.
Jinshi applauds when he shows up with Gaoshun. Quack Doctor goes to prepare tea for the two. Maomao asks Jinshi about his goal. He laughs and he thinks he can talk with her even if he doesn’t have a business. Quack Doctor returns with the tea. But Jinshi leaves. Jinshi takes Maomao to his palace. She reveals salt can change the color of the flame. But she doesn’t know the details. She leaves his palace. Jinshi orders Gaoshun to look for the people with burned hands.
Maomao Wears A New Dress for The Garden Party
Maomao walks in the hallway. She thinks there was a secret behind the book. But she knows it’s not her business. So she doesn’t continue to look into the case. She returns to the Jade Pavilion. Yinghua asks Maomao to try on the clothes. Maomao has a bad feelings. But she still tries on the clothes. Yinghua reveals the clothes are for the Garden Party. She adds that the emperor will come to the party. Ailan mentions Emperor doesn’t get married. So he will take the first-class consorts to attend the party. Consort Gyokuyou will be chosen.
Maomao wonders what she needs to do when she’s at the party. Ailan tells the girl to smile. Maomao remembers Jinshi laughed at her. She doesn’t want to attend the party. But Yinghua goes against it. She reminds Maomao that it’s the first time the princess Lingli meets with everyone. She’s full of energy. Maomao sighs. She thinks she cannot turn it down because Consort Gyokuyou is short of maids. Yinghua decides to put makeup on Maomao. She thinks she should cover the girl’s freckles.

She makes another thing. Gaoshun goes to look into the person with burned hands. But he gets nothing. Jinshi worries about the Garden Party.
Jinshi Puts His Hairpin On Maomao
The next day, Consort Gyokuyou gets changed. She’s very beautiful. The maids flatter their lady. Consort Gyokuyou puts a gold necklace on Maomao. Yinghua catches Maomao. Other maids begin to take off Maomao’s makeup. They find a secret. The consorts and the maids go to the Garden Party. Jinshi says goodbye to Consort Lishu. He offers to have a meeting at the Garden Party. He laughs when he thinks about that he’s going to go to see Consort Gyokuyou. Gaoshun knows his master cares for Consort Gyokuyou because of the toy Maomao.

They wish to get the hairpin. The Garden Party begins. The dancers dance on the stage. The consorts and the maids watch the show. They don’t know someone is hiding in the dark.
