Dear X: Episode 8 Recap

In-Gang’s grandma Kyung-Suk is sent to the hospital in Dear X episode 8. The doctor tries to save the old lady in the operating room. Ah-Jin waits outside. Jun-Seo shows up. He notices that the girl is praying. He wonders if she prays for the old lady’s death. Kyung-Suk passes away in the end when In-Gang arrives at the hospital.

In-Gang attends his grandma’s funeral. He cries in front of her. Ah-Jin hugs her boyfriend to comfort him. Le-Na pays her respect to Kyung-Suk. She leaves. Jung-Ho arrives at the funeral home. Ah-Jin tails the guy. In-Gang’s brother In-Mo sees Jung-Ho. He remembers Ah-Jin worked at Jung-Ho’s cafe before. He looked into Jung-Ho. He found out that Jung-Ho was arrested because he killed the father of the part-time student at his store.

Ah-Jin is questioned by the cop. She reveals she visited Kyung-Suk for accompanying the old lady. She remembers Kyung-Suk cried after she found out that she pushed his grandson into hell. The old lady didn’t know what to do. The cop wonders what happened before Kyung-Suk tripped. Ah-Jin says that the old lady tried to show her the stray cat. But Kyung-Suk felt dizzy suddenly. She tripped.

Jae-Oh asked Jun-Seo to take Ah-Jin away after Kyung-Suk tumbled down the stairs. But Ah-Jin insisted on staying at the scene. Because there’s no CCTV there. She called an ambulance.

In-Mo stops Jung-Ho from leaving the funeral home. He asks him if Ah-Jin was related to the murder case of her father. Jung-Ho denies it. He confesses it to In-Mo that he wronged the girl because he didn’t want to be a criminal. In-Mo feels relieved after he got the answer. He leaves. Ah-Jin wonders why Jung-Ho said so to the guy. She thinks it was a good chance to take revenge on her. He admits it to her that he wanted to take revenge in the beginning. But he sympathized with her. He tells her not to feel guilty. Because it was his fate. He asks her to remember that someone is cheering her on in the world. He thinks it’s the best revenge he can give.

Hee-Kook studies Ah-Jin and In-Gang in the office. He believes that the two are going to break up. Ah-Jin returns home. She sees the dinner Kyung-Suk prepared for her. Hee-Kook calls Ah-Jin. He asks for the new message. She hangs up because she’s in mourning. So he contacts Sung-Hee. The girl claims that she didn’t post the article. She hangs up as well.

We find out that Sung-Hee and Jae-Oh are in the clothing store. Sung-Hee said so to Hee-Kook because Jae-Oh asked her to do that. Jae-Oh threatens the girl that he will disclose her dirty past if she hurts Ah-Jin. Ah-Jin returns to the funeral home in the evening. She runs into Director Seol. He invites her to his studio. Mi-Ri visits Jun-Seo. She reveals Director Seol plans to give a new role to Ah-Jin. She thinks it’s a good chance to the girl. She knows In-Gang gave a big present to his girlfriend.

Ah-Jin arrives at the parking lot. Jun-Seo gets in her car. She realizes that he wants to know if she pushed In-Gang’s grandma. He hopes the person wasn’t her. She admits it to him that the old lady found out that she intended to approach her. She asks him to guess what she did.

The next day, In-Gang goes to his grandma’s house. He runs into the his grandma’s neighbor. The madam reveals In-Gang’s grandma had a fight with the young lady. The woman who lives in the Unit 409 installed a CCTV. In-Gang visits the woman. But he’s told that the footage was taken away by the police.

Jae-Oh breaks into the bar. He punches Jun-Seo. He thinks Jun-Seo should have trusted Ah-Jin. Jun-Seo wonders if Jae-Oh watched the footage. Jae-Oh denies it. Because he believes that Ah-Jin is innocent. He comforts Jun-Seo that Sung-Hee won’t spread the rumor of Ah-Jin. Because he gave the girl a lesson. He leaves the bar.

The next day, In-Gang wakes up in the morning after he drank last night. He sees the porridge Ah-Jin left on the table. Director Seol meets Ah-Jin at a cafe. He’s not happy with it after he saw the news that Ah-Jin is going to marry In-Gang. Mi-Ri shows up. She’s very happy after she saw the director. But he leaves. Mi-Ri complains it to Ah-Jin that In-Gang wants to retire from public life. She’s surprised that the girl didn’t know it. She figures it out that Ah-Jin didn’t know In-Gang went to buy ring. She wonders if she’s going to marry the guy. But Ah-Jin plans to break up with In-Gang. She asks Mi-Ri to support her.

In-Gang is at home. He reads the love letter he wrote to Ah-Jin. Ah-Jin texts him. She informs him that she’s going to come to his house. Le-Na takes the drunk Jun-Seo home. She asks Jae-Oh to go to prepare noodles. He cooks the noodles. She eats the noodles.

Ah-Jin visits In-Gang. She brings up that he wants to retire from public life. He realizes that Mi-Ri leaked it. She wonders why he didn’t tell it to her first. He explains it to her that he wanted to let her know about it after he makes the decision. She guesses he wants to marry her after he retires from public life. He mistakes that they have same idea. But he’s told that she’s not happy after she was scolded by the director. She offers to break up with him. Because he’s not the In-Gang she knows anymore. She mentions he lost many fans after he dated her. She doesn’t want to be a married woman. Because she knows she will lose many roles. He’s surprised that she’s changed overnight. She learns that he doesn’t like her look. She wonders if he prefers her to smile to break up with him. So she smiles. He persuades her to understand him because she knows he’s in a hard time. But she refuses to do that. She thinks he’s arrogant. He hopes it’s just a dream. She scolds him. She tells him that breakup is nothing. He begs her not to leave. But she reveals his grandma died because of her. He cries after she left his house.

Ah-Jin drives on the street in the evening. She calls Hee-Kook. She asks him to prepare the news that she and In-Gang broke up. She gets a call from Mi-Ri. She doesn’t pick up her phone. She contacts Jae-Oh. The two are going to have a meeting on the street. But Jae-Oh notices that the car is tailing Ah-Jin. He asks her boss not to stop her car. Ah-Jin doesn’t stop her car. Jae-Oh stops the car that tails Ah-Jin. He’s beaten by some guys.

Mi-Ri visits In-Gang. She asks him to forget Ah-Jin. But he doesn’t answer her. He tries to pour himself a glass of wine. She grabs the wine bottle from him. She persuades him that the girl isn’t suitable for him. He knows it. He asks her to let him in pain for one day. She accompanies him to drink. He thanks her. She’s very happy. Ah-Jin calls Jae-Oh after the guy was hurt. She asks him about the people who tailed her in the car. He tells a lie to her that those guys were paparazzi.

The next day, Le-Na sees the news that Ah-Jin and In-Gang broke up at home. Mi-Ri works in her office. She’s told that In-Gang slept after he took the sleeping pills. She decides to go to the store to buy hangover soup for the guy. In-Gang throws away the wine and the sleeping pills at home. Mi-Ri walks out of the store with the hangover soup. She gets a call from In-Mo. He worries about his brother because In-Gang didn’t pick up his phone. She comforts him that she’s going to go to see In-Gang. Mi-Ri gets into In-Gang’s house. She finds out that he died in the bathtub. She cries after she saw his body. In-Gang’s blood keeps dropping to the ring he bought for Ah-Jin.

The next day, Jun-Seo goes to the hospital to see Jae-Oh. Jae-Oh feels relieved after he was told that Ah-Jin is fine. He remembers he was beaten by the tattoo man. He wonders who they were. He and Jun-Seo learn that In-Gang killed himself.

Jun-Seo gets into Ah-Jin’s house when Ah-Jin is doing yoga. He mentions what she said that In-Gang won’t be hurt. She claims that it wasn’t her mistake. He reminds her that In-Gang is dead. He thinks she killed the guy. She tells him that he shouldn’t expect her to feel guilty. Because he will be disappointed in the end. He persuades her to live like an ordinary person. He thinks he was wrong that he expects her to have a shred of humanity. She brings up that he didn’t drag her out of the bathtub. She thinks Jae-Oh would break the woman’s head. She yells at him. She tells him that he doesn’t have the right to scold her. She reminds him that he turned her into such a person. She thinks he’s blaming the past himself when he blames her. She asks him to blame her because she won’t blame him. She’s in his arms. She tells him to leave if he wants to do that.

The next day, Mi-Ri and Le-Na attend In-Gang’s funeral. Mi-Ri remembers In-Gang was a nice guy. Ah-Jin gets into In-Gang’s house in the evening. She sits on the bathtub. She thinks In-Gang was too weak. She asks him to understand her. She leaves.

The next day, In-Gang’s fans gather in front of Longstar Entertainment. They ask the president to kick Ah-Jin out of the company. Sung-Hee guards Ah-Jin when Ah-Jin is attacked by the angry fans. She follows her into her house. She takes away a bag. She forgives her.

Mi-Ri meets Hee-Kook. She takes out the file about the murder case of Ah-Jin’s father. She asks him to bring Ah-Jin down. Ji-Sun visits Ah-Jin. She gets on her knees to her. She apologizes to her. She asks her to let her son know that she did it. Ji-Sun tries to leave Ah-Jin’s house. But Ah-Jin laughs suddenly. She asks Ji-Sun if she knows when she hated her most.

Ah-Jin confessed it to Kyung-Suk in Kyung-Suk’s house. She approached her with a goal. But she loves In-Gang. She cried. She agreed to tell the truth to In-Gang. Kyung-Suk wiped off the girl’s tears. She kept the promise that she’s her child. She decided to hug her after she made the mistake. Because it’s what a parent should do. She gave her a hug. She forgave her after she knew her mistake. She offered to keep the secret together.

Ah-Jin tells Ji-Sun that she hated her when she was nice to her. She worried that she will be fooled by Ji-Sun’s kindness. Jun-Seo watches the footage Jae-Oh gave him. He finds out that Kyung-Suk tumbled down the stairs on her own. He realizes that he misunderstood the girl.

The bodyguard reports to Do-Hyuk that Ah-Jin and her friends don’t know who they are. Do-Hyuk remembers he almost hit Ah-Jin on the street in the evening. He stares at her photo.
