Maomao wakes up from the house in the morning. She learns that she returned home in The Apothecary Diaries episode 8. She finds out that her father Luomen is working in the field. She goes to the field. She checks the herb her father planted. The little girl knocks hard at the door. Maomao stops the little girl. She tells her that she will break the door. But the little girl grabs Maomao’s hand. She takes her to the brothel. The little girl informs her lady that she took an apothecary there.
The woman urges Maomao to hurry in The Apothecary Diaries. Maomao sees the courtesan and the man lying in the bed. They’re in a coma. The woman who takes care of the two reports to Maomao that she made them vomit. Maomao thinks it’s not enough. She runs to the bed. She checks the two. She finds out that the man isn’t breathing and the courtesan’s breathing is weak. She asks the woman to check the courtesan’s throat. Maomao gives the man artificial respiration. The woman does the same thing to the courtesan. The courtesan wakes up.
Luomen Reminds Maomao That She Made A Mistake
The woman asks for water immediately. But Maomao stops the woman. She asks for charcoal instead. The little girl receives the order. She goes to take charcoal. Maomao saves the man in The Apothecary Diaries. The woman thanks Maomao for helping them. Maomao asks the woman not to touch the vomit. Because she thinks it’s poisonous. The woman leaves. Maomao finds the Wheat Stalk and the tobacco stick on the floor. She thinks the courtesan and the guest brought trouble. The little girl shows up with some charcoal. But Maomao asks the little girl to go to prepare some papers and brush. She writes a letter to her father. She asks the little girl to take her father there.
Luomen arrives with the little girl. Maomao thinks her father is too slow. Luomen explains it to her that the little girl needed to take care of his legs. She shows him the crushed charcoal. He asks her to let the two take the charcoal and the herb. The courtesan takes the medicine. She’s told that the guest was fine after she took the medicine. Luomen thinks Maomao’s treatment method was good. He questions the girl if she knows the poison. She begins to study. She takes the tobacco and she thinks it’s highly toxic.
Luomen asks Maomao if she let the two drink water. She thinks it’s a bad idea. He admits it to her that stomach acid can inhibit toxin absorption. So drinking water would have an opposite effect. But he points out that the tobacco can dissolve in water. Maomao takes a look at the vomit. She realizes that she made a mistake. She thinks it’s a good idea to dilute stomach acid. The madam entertains Maomao and Luomen with the snacks. Maomao discovers that the madam used the Wheat Stalk to drink so that the lipstick won’t get on the cup. The madam gives some money to Luomen. The man wants to reject it. But Maomao reminds her father that he needs to pay the rent.
Maomao Stops The Little Girl from Killing The Guest
Maomao learns that the courtesan and the man tried to die for love. The man isn’t rich enough. He couldn’t ransom his girlfriend. So they had to come up with the plan. But Maomao remembers the man dressed very well. She thinks he’s not like the people who worry about money and women. She sees the little girl sneaking into the man’s room. She stops her before she murders the man. Maomao grabs the knife from the little girl. The little girl yells at Maomao that the man deserves his death. She tries to take her knife back. But Maomao hits the little girl’s forehead. The little girl cries.
The woman shows up. She wonders what Maomao and the little girl were doing. She has a talk with Maomao. She touches the little girl’s head. She reveals the man was a troublemaker. Maomao learns that the man liked to sweet-talks the courtesans. He hinted at them that he will ransom them. But he abandoned them. He became the enemy of the courtesans. He was almost killed by one of the courtesans. But he resolved the problems with his money. He even took his bodyguards to the brothel.
The woman leaks that the little girl’s sister was abandoned by the man. The little girl was very happy because she mistook that she would live with her sister soon. But the man broke the promise. The woman tears up when she tells the story. She thinks the little girl cannot forgive the man because of it. She tells Maomao that the little girl is close to the courtesan who drank poison. Maomao learns that the woman wishes her to pretend not to see it. She persuades the woman not to let the man enter the brothel. The woman points out that the courtesan loves the man deeply.
Maomao Knows The Courtesan Tried to Kill The Man
Maomao realizes that the madam entertained them because they saved the son of the tycoon. But she thinks it’s unfair to the little girl. Maomao leaves the brothel with her father. She figures it out that the little girl visited her because she knew she came back. She thinks the kid was very tactful. Maomao and Luomen return home. She checks the money. She guesses the madam wanted them to keep it a secret. She thinks the man wouldn’t die for the courtesan. She figures it out that the courtesan forced the man to do that.
Luomen suggests that Maomao shouldn’t imagine. It promotes her to think that he knows the truth. She realizes that it was a murder soon. She goes to look into the water. But Luomen reminds her that the case is over. Maomao walks on the street. She knows the murderer was the courtesan. She wonders how the courtesan made the man drink the poisoned wine since he had bodyguards. She thinks it’s very simple. The courtesan just needed to taste the poisoned wine. She knows the man would drink after the courtesan was fine. But the courtesan wouldn’t be fine because she drank the poisoned wine. So the courtesan prepared two different wines. She poured the two wines into the glass. But she used the Wheat Stalk to drink the wine on the lower level. She drank the wine at the top. But she only drank a little.

She knew the man would die and she would be alive. She did it in the morning. But she was discovered by someone. Maomao thinks the courtesan was strong and weak. She arrives at the brothel when the courtesan looks out the window in her room on the second floor. The little girl persuades the courtesan to take a break. She closes the window. Maomao thinks the kid was acting strange. She mentions the little girl went to invite an apothecary for not saving the man. She wonders if she didn’t worry about the lady. She guesses the kid knew the lady wouldn’t die.
Maomao Is Reunited With Meimei
Maomao goes to take a bath. She runs into Meimei. Meimei smiles at Maomao. The two girls take bath together. Meimei learns that Maomao is going to return to the palace soon. Maomao reveals she has a one-year contract. Meimei reveals everyone worried about Maomao after the girl went missing. Maomao learns that Madam worried about her. But Madam didn’t express her feelings. Meimei hugs Maomao. She thinks she’s lonely.

The next day, Maomao says goodbye to her father. She goes to the Verdigris House to pick up Lihaku. But Pairin flirts with the man. She persuades him to stay at the place. He’s very shy and he thinks it’s a good plan. Maomao learns that the man had a good dream. She knows Madam will take all the money away from the man. But she realizes that she will be the one who pays the deposit. Madam shows up behind Maomao. It startles the girl. Madam asks Maomao to send a message to her before she comes. Maomao is frustrated. She knows Lihaku got her involved.
Jinshi Mistakes Maomao And Lihaku for Having A Sweet Night
Maomao returns to the Crystal Pavilion. Jinshi is angry to stare at the girl. Maomao senses the anger from the man. She doesn’t know what happened. She says goodbye to Consort Gyokuyou. She intends to go to get changed. But Jinshi pats her on the shoulder. He claims that he will wait for her in the reception room. She’s terrified. She meets him in the reception room. He heard that she returned home. He asks her about the man Lihaku. She claims that the man is her guarantor. He mentions she accepted a hairpin from the man. She explains it to him that she accepted it because she wanted to do a favor to the guy. Jinshi reminds Maomao that he gave her a hairpin as well. He blames her for not visiting him. She learns that he’s not happy because she didn’t visit him. She figures it out that he wants to get into the trouble. She apologizes to him that she didn’t know what he would like. He’s shocked that she gave a present to the man. She admits it and she reveals she gave the man a sweet night. The teacup falls to the floor after Jinshi heard the bad news. Maomao cleans his clothes for him. She walks out of the room. Gyokuyou and Hongniang are waiting for Maomao. Gyokuyou laughs. Hongniang is angry to beat Maomao.
