Maomao chases her father when he arrives in the village. She holds his hand in The Apothecary Diaries episode 7. They disappear. Maomao wakes up in her room. She worries about her father. She remembers her colleagues carried her to the room because they cared for her. Maomao thinks she had a good sleep because of those girls. She visits Consort Gyokuyou in the Crystal Pavilion. Gyokuyou persuades Maomao to go to rest. But Maomao asks for a task. Gyokuyou notices Maomao’s freckles. Maomao is embarrassed. She asks her lady to let her keep the freckles.
Gyokuyou agrees to it. She thinks it will be hard to her if her maid is in the spotlight in The Apothecary Diaries. She reveals Gaoshun visited her and she let the guy go to weed. Maomao thinks Gaoshun is a charming man. She knows many maids have feelings for the guy. She asks Gyokuyou to lend the guest room to her. Gyokuyou agrees to it. Maomao meets with Gaoshun in the guest room. The guy takes out the stuff Jinshi asked him to deliver. Maomao finds out that it’s the soup Gyokuyou wanted to drink.
Maomao Finds Out That Consort Lishu’s Maids Bullied Consort Lishu
Gaoshun asks Maomao not to drink the soup in The Apothecary Diaries. She denies it and she takes a look at the bowl. She discovers that the silverware is corroded. She thinks the soup isn’t delicious anymore. She wonders if Gaoshun delivered the soup with his hands. He denies it and he reveals he used a cloth to keep the bowl after he knew the soup is poisonous. Maomao prepares the cotton, powder and brush. She applies the powder on the bowl and she uses the brush to wipe it off. The white marks appear.
Maomao figures it out that there were four people touching the bowl. She thinks the last one was the poisoner. Gaoshun wonders why Consort Lishu’s maid left her fingerprints on the bowl. Maomao reveals the maid bullied the consort. Gaoshun asks Maomao to explain it. She mentions Lishu’s dress. She thinks the maids should have considered other dresses. But they made a fool out of Lishu. Gaoshun asks Maomao why those maids did such things. She thinks the maids looked down on Lishu because Lishu married the emperor’s son after the emperor passed away. Gaoshun wonders why Maomao took the maid of Lishu’s side. She thinks the maid is very poor.
Gaoshun leaves Maomao’s place. He reports it to Jinshi. Jinshi thinks it was an inside job. He complains it to Gaoshun that he didn’t have a good sleep because of the case. Gaoshun reminds Jinshi that he doesn’t wear the hairpin. He mentions only a special person can wear the hairpin. Xiaolan meets with Maomao outside. She learns that Maomao received hairpins when she’s eating sugar fruit. Xiaolan is excited. She tells Maomao that she can leave the palace. Maomao asks Xiaolan for the details.
Maomao Convinces Lihaku to Take Her Out Of The Palace
Xiaolan reveals they can be taken out of the palace by men even if they cannot meet with men outside the palace. Maomao thinks the key is the hairpin. Xiaolan agrees to what Maomao said. She hints at the girl that she can let the man who gave her the hairpin take her out of the palace. Maomao thanks Xiaolan. She says that she will give it a try. Xiaolan laughs. She thanks Maomao for giving her the sugar fruit instead. She says goodbye to her.
Maomao walks in the palace. She remembers there were two men giving her hairpins. She wonders if Jinshi is a man. Because she knows he’s a eunuch. Lihaku is training in the training ground. The follower reports it to Lihaku that there was a maid delivering the tag to him. Lihaku takes over the tag. He knows the maid mistook that he has feelings for him. He wants to reject the maid.
Maomao visits Lihaku. He doesn’t recognize her because she wore makeup. Maomao tells the guy that she wishes to go home. He’s shocked to take out the hairpin. He asks Maomao if she knows what it means. She reveals she heard she can go home if someone helps her. He learns that she wants to use him. She denies it and she reveals she prepared a present for him. She takes out some tags of the beauties. She offers to take him to date the beauties at the Verdigris House. He doesn’t believe it because he knows it’s very expensive to stay one night at the place. Maomao brags that those beauties will believe Lihaku if they see the letters of introduction.
Maomao decides not to waste Lihaku’s time. She intends to go to visit another man who can help her. She takes out two hairpins. He sees the hairpins. He knows the owners of the hairpins are higher in rank than him. He wonders who’s the girl. He knows he won’t have the second chance to see the top three beauties. Maomao keeps the tags. She asks the guy if he makes the decision. He’s defeated.
Jinshi Knows Maomao Left With A Man
The maids at the Crystal Pavilion receive the good news. They think Maomao found a good husband. Maomao thanks the maids. But they shake her because she acted very bland. Yinghua wonders how Maomao encountered the man. Hongniang thinks Maomao knows nothing about the meaning of the hairpin. Gyokuyou agrees to what Hongniang said. She thinks Jinshi is so pathetic. Jinshi sneezes in his office. He doesn’t know his girlfriend is going to leave with another man.

The next day, Jinshi visits Maomao. But he’s told that the girl left with the officer. He’s shocked. Gyokuyou laughs to tell the guy that Maomao went home. Maomao and Lihaku are in the carriage. Maomao thinks they don’t have to take a carriage because her home isn’t far. She knows everyone wants to see the top three beauties at the Verdigris House.
Maomao Returns Home
Maomao and Lihaku arrive at the place. Maomao sees Madam. She’s happy to run to her grandmother. But Madam beats Maomao. Lihaku worries about the girl after she was hurt. Maomao leaks that Madam did it for making her spit out poison. Madam walks to Lihaku. She learns that he’s the guest. She finds out that the man is very strong. She thinks he will have a good future. She asks the girl who’s cleaning the floor to go to call Pairin. Maomao asks Lihaku if he’s confident in his muscles. The man shows his strong arm to her. He’s taken into the Verdigris House.

Madam complains it to Maomao that she didn’t contact her. Maomao gives the money she earned in the palace to Madam. But Madam thinks it’s not enough. She mentions Pairin entertained the guest in person. Maomao asks Madam to give her a discount. She plans to just let the man drink tea with Pairin. But Madam points out that Pairin will be moved by the muscles of the man. She asks Maomao to take some strong men to the place. Maomao wonders if the eunuch can be a guest. She gives up the mind soon. Maomao returns home. Her father Luomen is waiting for her. He learns that she went to the palace these days. She sleeps in the bed. Luomeng takes a look at his daughter. He thinks it’s Maomao’s fate.
