Ah-Jin visits her mother in Dear X episode 2. She smiles to tell her mother that she’s doing well. She reveals there was a girl in her class keeping provoking her. She dislikes the girl. But she thinks it’s fine. She tells her that she wants to give something to her. She mentions she visited the art teacher after she handed in the unfinished homework. She explained it to the guy that she couldn’t complete the work because her hand was hurt when she was abused. But he knew she told him a lie. He persuaded her to go to see a psychologist. He gave the note of the psychologist to her. Ah-Jin puts the note on her mother’s grave. She guesses she might need it. She decides not to live like her mother. She swears to climb to high places. So her mother’s death holds greater value.
Ah-Jin’s mother Sun-Ye took Ah-Jin to the grocery in June 2007. She asked her to steal two bottles of drink from the store. But Ah-Jin was caught by the grocery owner. Ah-Jin’s father Seon-Gyu killed Sun-Ye. He threw her down the stairs. He pretended to cry when the police arrived. He went to attend the funeral of Jun-Seo’s father. He and Ji-Sun had an eye contact.
Seon-Gyu took Ah-Jin to Ji-Sun’s house. He promised his daughter that he will let her grow up in the family as long as she doesn’t bring trouble. But she didn’t greet Ji-Sun when Ji-Sun welcomed her. Ji-Sun took Seon-Gyu to her bedroom. She complained it to him that she needs to raise another child. He comforted her that they will move to the penthouse as long as they sell the footage of Ah-Jin. But he asked her not to provoke the little girl. Because he knew Ah-Jin will eat Ji-Sun if Ji-Sun does that. Ah-Jin heard the conversation outside the bedroom.
Seon-Gyu arrives at Ah-Jin’s school. He runs into Sung-Hee. Sung-Hee throws a fit to her mother over the phone. Because her mother slept with her teacher. Sung-Hee learns that Seon-Gyu is Ah-Jin’s father, according to what he said. But she remembers the girl is an orphan.
Ah-Jin and Jae-Oh are on the campus. Ah-Jin is told that her father arrived at the school. She runs away. Sung-Hee takes Seon-Gyu to the classroom. She tells everyone that the guy is Ah-Jin’s father. She intends to embarrass Ah-Jin. But Jun-Seo claims that Seon-Gyu is his father. He promises the guy that he will give some money to him. He takes him away. Ah-Jin is saved because of what Jun-Seo did it. She leaves a notebook at the scene.
Ah-Jin tails Seon-Gyu and Jun-Seo to the bank. Jun-Seo takes out some money from the ATM. The president of Longstar Entertainment Mi-Ri sees Ah-Jin on the street. Jun-Seo takes Seon-Gyu to the cafe. He gives the money to him. But he asks him not to show up in front of Ah-Jin. Seon-Gyu says goodbye to his daughter. He leaves the cafe. Mi-Ri shows up with Do-Hee. Mi-Ri tells Ah-Jin that she wants to help her be an actress. But the girl claims that she won’t be an actress.
Jae-Oh returns home when his father is beating his brother. He accidentally kills his father. Jun-Seo returns home with Ah-Jin. He comforts her that he will take care of her father. He wonders how Sung-Hee took her father to the school. She reveals she has gotten rid of the girl. Sung-Hee is beaten by the girls on the street in the evening after they got her notebook. Sung-Hee tries to give them some money for making them forgive her. But they plan to die with her.
Jae-Oh calls his aunt at home. She blames him for sending his brother to her place. He asks her to take care of his brother. He hangs up. He calls Ah-Jin in front of the police station. He tells her that it’s his last call. He reveals he killed his father. He plans to go to turn himself in. He doesn’t regret for what he did. She suggests that he should pretend to regret. So people will sympathize with him. She thinks he’s freedom even if he’s in prison. Because he cut off the chains that restrain him. She persuades him to claim that he’s a victim. He thanks her because she took his side.
Ah-Jin and Jun-Seo have a period of quiet life after Sung-Hee left the school. Ah-Jin admits to Law Department of Korean University. Jun-Seo hugs Ah-Jin to cheer in the rental apartment. Jae-Oh is taken to the courtroom after he murdered his father. He remembers Ah-Jin promised to meet him as long as he doesn’t steal. He cries because he worries that he cannot see the girl again. He’s sentenced to five years in prison. Because the judge considered that the guy did it for protecting his brother.
Seon-Gyu loses all his money. He finds the university of Ah-Jin and Jun-Seo. He’s very happy. Jun-Seo visits his grandpa. He asks him to lend the tuition to Ah-Jin. He plans to be a tutor for repaying the money. His grandpa knows he won’t have time to study if he does the job. He asks Jun-Seo to accompany him to Japan. He agrees to waive his interest.
Seon-Gyu finds Ji-Sun when she’s playing golf at the golf club. He notices that she’s pretty because he knows she has money. He asks her if she knows where his daughter is. She doesn’t know it because she didn’t see the girl after she kicked her out of her house. But he thinks her son might know it. He laughs.
Jun-Seo meets Ah-Jin at a restaurant. He brings a good news to her that she got the scholarship from his grandpa. But she knows she got the scholarship because he agreed to do something for his grandpa. He reveals he just needs to be a good grandson. He thinks it’s very important that she enrolls in the school. She smiles.
Ah-Jin returns home. Seon-Gyu is waiting for her. She tries to call the police. He throws away her cell phone. He asks her for some money. He guesses she has the tuition. He tries to search her pocket. But she hits his face. He keeps kicking her. He takes away the tuition Jun-Seo prepared for her. Ah-Jin lies on the floor. She remembers Jun-Seo got into her room when he was sick. She asked him to go to visit his mother. He revealed he did it. But his mother told him to sleep. She let him lie in her bed. She went to look for the medicine. But she didn’t find it. So she accompanied him. She pointed out that he’s not like his mother. He denied it. He showed her his family photo for proving it. She noticed the guy in the photo. She was told that the guy was the driver of his father.
The next day, Ah-Jin entered Ji-Sun’s room after Jun-Seo went to see a doctor. She tested Ji-Sun. She discovered the truth that the driver is Jun-Seo’s father. She threatened Ji-Sun that she will report it to Jun-Seo’s grandpa. She got a lot of clothes from her.
Ah-Jin showed Jun-Seo the new clothes in the room. But he wasn’t happy. Because his mother didn’t allow him to go out. She told him that his mother doesn’t love him. She believed that the madam is coming up with a way to get rid of them. Ji-Sun overheard it. She returned to her room. She called Seon-Gyu. She complained it to him that his daughter has manipulated her. He persuaded her to endure it. But she asked him to take the kid away. He agreed. But he asked her not to let his daughter know about it.
Ah-Jin walked out of Jun-Seo’s room. She told Ji-Sun that her son knows she’s a trash. Ji-Sun was furious to take the little girl to the bathroom. Jun-Seo tailed the two. He found out that his mother was trying to drown Ah-Jin from the bathtub. Ah-Jin asked Jun-Seo to call 911. She ran upstairs. She told Ji-Sun that her mother didn’t die after she fell from the upper floor. She thought she will be like her mother. She jumped out the window.
Ah-Jin was sent to the hospital after she was hurt. Seon-Gyu had a fight with Ji-Sun outside the ward. Because he couldn’t film his daughter. Jun-Seo covered Ah-Jin’s ears so that she couldn’t hear the dirty words. He cried after he read her diary. He told her that he will always take her side.

At present, Ah-Jin wakes up from the ward. She recognizes Jun-Seo because he grabs her hand tightly. She asks him not to look at her because she’s not dead. She’s told that she was unconscious for three days. She calls the university. But they reject her because she missed the chance.

Ah-Jin returns to the school to attend the graduation ceremony. She takes photos with the classmates in the classroom. Ji-Sun finds Jun-Seo at the school. She gives the flowers to him. She wonders if his grandpa prepared any present for him. But he throws her into the car. He follows Ah-Jin along the street. They see Jung-Ho catching a thief. Ah-Jin smiles. Jae-Oh is in the prison. He draws Ah-Jin when the prisoners are talking about him.
