Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Episode 4 Recap: Perfect Preparation

Maki goes to Zenin family in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 episode 4. Naoya provokes her that her ugly face cannot be healed. She’s surprised that he can distinguish between men and women with his face. She mistook that he can only look at butt. He puts his feet on the piano. He mentions she cannot use cursed arts and she cannot see cursed spirits. Her beautiful face was disfigured. Nobody will keep her in mind. He wonders if he needs to bully her like before.

Naoya asks Maki if she will continue to follow Megumi and Yuta. She ignores him. She leaves his room. She’s on the way to the Taboo Warehouse. Maki’s mother asks Maki to go back. She reminds her that they’re not allowed to get into Taboo Warehouse. Maki claims that the master allowed her to do that. Naoya is surprised that he allowed Maki.

It flashes back. Maki meets Megumi in the classroom. She persuades him to be the master of Zenin family. She reveals it’s Naobito’s last wish. But he rejects it. He thinks it’s too much trouble. She brings a bad news to him that he has to do that. Naobito said that he’s going to leave all property of Zenin family to Megumi. Funds, cursed items and the intelligence. Maki believes that it will chance their mode of operation. Megumi asks Maki to do the job. He wants to give the position to her. She points out that nobody will accept her and nobody will follow her. She mentions he inherited the hereditary art. He can expand his domain. He doesn’t care for what the people of Zenin family think. He mentions what she said that he will get the benefits once he becomes the master. She feels guilty that she cannot give Mai a place to stay.

At present, Maki’s mother yells at Maki. She doesn’t understand why she keeps doing so. She asks her to make her feel fortunate that she gave birth to her. Maki opens the gate of the Taboo Warehouse. She sees her father.

Jinichi visits Naoya. Naoya thinks Jinichi should have made it clear in the beginning since he decided to do that. Jinichi admits that Megumi is better than Naoya. A lot of people want to support Megumi for fixing the relationship with Gojo family. But Jinichi cannot accept that giving all property to Megumi. Megumi is not only close to Gojo family. He’s close to Noritoshi Kamo as well. Zenin family will be in the wrong if they kill Megumi without a reason. The family falls behind others in the power fight after Gojo was sealed. Naoya understands it. He wonders why Jinichi and his people do it now. Jinichi mentions the order of the boss. He thinks they should use it. The order asks them to kill Megumi, Maki and Mai who plan to release Gojo. Naoya laughs. He thinks it’s more persuasive that killing the biological daughters. Jinichi agrees with what Naoya said. He thinks it will make the boss trust them more. He reveals it was Ogi’s idea.

In the Taboo Warehouse, Ogi tells Maki that there’s no cursed items there. He expected their actions so he cleared it out in advance. Maki sees her sister Mai lying on the floor. Mai was beaten by her father. She is surprised that Maki came to Zenin family. She thinks she’s a fool when the gate is closed. Maki pulls out her cursed sword Dragon Bone. She walks to her father. Ogi opens his barrier Love of Fallen Flowers. He asks Maki if she knows why the former master was Naobito not him. She guesses he didn’t become the master because he’s a jerk who hurt his biological daughters. They fight each other with their swords. Ogi’s sword is cut off. But he still hurts Maki. She gets on her knees to him. She doesn’t understand it. He reveals he didn’t become the master because of her and Mai. She’s bleeding. She passes out.

Ogi learns that Maki approached him after she noticed that his sword was broken. He claims that he’s sorcerer not swordsman. He doesn’t expect that she judged him as a trash. He thinks it’s ridiculous. He reveals he lost to his older brother in one thing that’s the abilities of his children. He thinks it shouldn’t have happened that children hold parents back. Maki reminds his father that drag is a virtue.

Ogi throws Maki and Mai into the room of training and punishment. He reveals he raised many cursed spirits below the second level in the room. The cursed spirits don’t show up. Because they’re afraid of Ogi. But they will climb out, eating Maki and Mai. Ogi mocks Maki’s Physically Gifted heavenly restriction. He mentions the sorcerers train everyday. They use cursed power to enhance the body. Ogi tells Maki that everyone owns her kind of strength. It’s genuine materials. He says goodbye to the stain of his life.

Mai climbs to Maki after Ogi left. She holds Maki’s face. She thinks she was tough. She reveals she thought it will happen one day. She’s close to her. She tells her that it’s absolutely terrible.

Maki wakes up on the beach. She gets up. She finds out that Mai is sitting with her. Mai mentions Maki knows how her art runs. But she cannot make large or complex stuff. She was hurt by Ogi. She will die after she does it. She says goodbye to Maki. She tells Maki that she needs to cheer herself on from now on. Mai walks to the sea. Maki tries to stop Mai. She doesn’t understand what she says. But she asks her to come back first. Mai reveals she knew why sorcerer would treat twins as ominous sign. You need to pay if you want to gain. It’s not just restraint. The choice and sacrifice don’t apply to the situation of twins. Because twins would be treated as the same person in the world of cursed arts.

Mai tells Maki that they’re the same person. So Maki won’t get stronger even if she works hard until she vomits blood. Because Mai doesn’t want to get stronger. She reminds her that she will be a loser all her life as long as she exists. She leaves something to her. She claims that she will take away cursed power and everything. She asks her to promise her that she will destroy everything. She smiles at her.

In the training and punishment room, Maki wakes up after Mai saved her. She tries to wake her sister up. But Mai is dead. Ogi walks in the hallway. He notices that the cursed spirit disappeared. He doesn’t understand why the cursed spirit was killed. He mentions his body remembers the fear that he tried his best to forget. He releases his art Blazing Courage. She decides to burn Maki to ashes with his hands. He swings a bow at her. But his head is cut off. Maki walks through her father. She tells Mai that it will begin when she carries her sword.

Jinichi and Naoya walk out of their rooms. Ranta reports it to Jinichi that Maki killed Ogi. Nobuaki shows up with the assassins. He learns that Ogi made a mistake. He guesses it’s possible that Ogi was attacked when he slept or went to pee. He asks the assassins to go to catch Maki. The assassins disappear after they received the order. Nobuaki believes that he will be scolded by Jinichi if they fail. Because he’s the team leader. He asks the assassins not to kill Maki. He wants to do it in person.

The Kukuru Unit encounters Maki. The member notices that she holds two cursed swords of unknown origin. She’s surrounded by all the members then. Maki realizes that it’s the right answer. She apologizes to Mai. She kills all the members in the lobby. Nobuaki opens the door of the lobby. He’s shocked after he saw the bodies on the floor. He thinks he’s over.

Two giant hands rise from the ground outside. It crushes Maki in the blood pool. Nobuaki recognizes the art. The art belongs to Chojuro. Nobuaki sees Chojuro, Jinichi and Ranta. He learns that the top sorcerer team of Zenin family took action in the end. Maki attacks Nobuaki suddenly. He blocks her attack. He wonders why she can move since she was cursed by Chojuro. She breaks through his barrier. She kills him. She attacks Chojuro then. He doesn’t believe that she owns such a power. She breaks his heart. Ranta suppresses Maki on the ground. Jinichi asks Ranta to hang in there. But Maki is trying to break through the suppressing. Ranta asks Jinichi not to hesitate. He thinks Zenin family has such an ending because of what Toji did. He hints at him that Maki will be another Toji.

Jinichi strikes Maki with many fists. Ranta mistakes that Jinichi made it when he gets on knees on the bridge. But Maki carries Jinichi’s head to walk through Ranta. She throws the head into the river.

Naoya witnesses it. He thinks Maki is cruel. He asks her if she has a heart. She says that she doesn’t have a heart. Because the heart was taken away by Jinichi. Naoya beats Maki. He reminds her that she’s not Toji. He thinks the original sin of the weak is that the weak doesn’t know what is power. He tells her that nobody can understand Toji. He thinks he’s the only one who can stand on equal footing with Toji. But she sees through his art. She hits his head.

Maki finds her mother in the room. Maki’s mother is scared. She asks Maki not to approach her. Maki asks her mother why she told her to go back. She cuts her. Naoya returns to his room. He was hurt in the fight. Maki’s mother shows up behind him. She stabs his back. She remembers she was happy when Maki and Mai played in front of her.

Maki carries Mai out of Zenin family. She runs into Momo. Momo cries after she saw Mai’s body. She mentions she told Maki not to go to take part in the Culling Game. She wonders what Maki is going to do. Maki leaves Mai’s body to Momo.

It’s a gruesome episode. Maki kills everyone in Zenin family. She leaves no survivors. She even cuts her mother who helps her. She keeps the promise that she made to Mai. The cause of the incident is that Maki wants to take part in a game. She wants to take some weapons from home for gaining an advantage. But his father and his uncle want to keep the weapons. The fight breaks out between the two sides. It ultimately leads to tragedy.

Why Does Maki’s Mother Kill Naoya?

Maki’s Mother shows up as a detestable character in episode 4. She’s cold to Maki. She asks her not to approach the Taboo Warehouse when Maki tries to take some cursed weapons from the warehouse. Many fans hate the role. They think she’s not a good mother. But the truth is that she’s protecting Maki. She knows that her husband hurt Mai. His next target is Maki. She knows Maki isn’t her father’s rival. So she persuades her to leave. But Maki doesn’t listen to her mother.

Maki’s Mother kills Naoya at the end of the episode. Many fans don’t understand it. I think she does it because of her motherly love. Naoya is the root of the misfortune of Maki and Mai. The two girls won’t be happy as long as the guy live in the world. Although Mai forgives the guy, her mother won’t let him live in the world. It’s the last job she does as a respected mother. She felt honored after she gave births to Maki and Mai. But she loves her two daughters very much. But reality is harsh. She doesn’t give the answer to Maki when Maki asks her why she told her to go back. She wants her daughter to kill her at that moment. She wants to pay what she owes her.
