Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2: Episode 4 Recap

Fern is in the room at the hotel in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 episode 4. She holds two dresses, standing in front of the mirror. She cannot make the decision. She walks to Frieren. She asks her which dress is more beautiful. But the elf thinks the two dresses look the same. She worries that there’s nobody tying her hair if Fern leaves. So she asks Fern to tie her hair before she goes out. Fern gets angry. She ties the elf’s hair into braided pigtails. The elf apologizes to Fern. She hopes she will do a good job. Fern gets changed. She’s going to go out.

Stark waits Fern outside Fern’s room. He remembers he teased his goddess, and he asked her to date him. He sees her walking out of her room with a purple dress. Her hair and her eyes are purple as well. The dress is perfect. He offers to leave. She obediently agrees.

Stark and Fern walk on the street. Stark takes a look at Fern. He thinks she dressed differently than usual. He asks her why she did it. She explains it to him that it’s a date today. He notices that she’s very cute. He offers to set off. But she tells him that his movements are stiff. He denies it. She stops suddenly. He asks her what happened. She wants to know where they’re going to do. He reveals there’s a market up ahead. He wants to take her to the market. She follows him. She brings up that Frieren often goes to the market. He tells her that he heard that there’re rare magic items in big city sometimes. She figures it out that reason why the hotel was piled high with magic items. The magic items were placed by Frieren.

Stark can imagine the horror of that situation. Fern reveals Frieren fell asleep in the items. He thinks it’s terrifying. She agrees with what he said. He wonders if Frieren is going to go to soak in hot springs. She thinks the elf is sick of it. She says that she didn’t help the elf put her hair up. Frieren is soaking in the hot spring with the madam. She feels very comfortable. The madam tells Frieren that her hairstyle is very cute.

Fern knows she and Stark would talk about Frieren. Stark points out that they doesn’t have other topics to discuss. They arrive at the market. He offers to eat something. She rejects it. Because she’s not hungry. They go to the store. She takes a look at the necklace. She brings up the couples discount. He expresses that they earn after they came to date. She thinks he speaks very directly. She puts the necklace back. He finds out that those things are ordinary. She says that she would be startled if they’re all magic items.

Fern and Stark are going to leave the store. Fern stops and she looks at the man when he buys his wife the necklace. But Stark urges her to walk away. Fern is envy of the wife. Because she has a husband who cares for her very much. But Fern encounters a slow-witted boyfriend who doesn’t know how to spoil her.

Fern and Stark go to the bun store. Stark is very happy after he bought a big bun. Fern and Stark are on the way to the seats. Fern trips suddenly. Stark grabs her arm so that she doesn’t fall on the ground. He notices that her shoes aren’t very comfortable to walk in. The have a seat at the table. They enjoy the buns together. They watch Himmel’s statue in the square. They go to eat cake and ice cream.

Fern and Stark watch the city on the city all. Stark thinks the pose of Himmel’s statue is very handsome. He heard it from Frieren that the statue has one hundred poses. Fern thinks it’s too much. She finds out that the place is very quiet. It’s a good place. The scenery is beautiful as well. He notices that she’s not happy. She denies it. He points out that she didn’t smile. She admits it to him that the places they visited are what she likes. But she thinks the places weren’t chosen by Stark. It’s a rare date. He apologizes to her. He confesses it to her that the places were chosen by Frieren. She wonders why he did such a thing. He says that he wanted to make her happy. She tells him that she feels a bit disappointed. But she’s still happy. She learns that he tried to figure out the itinerary for her. It’s leisurely moments. She points at the cloud. She thinks the cloud is like the bun they just ate. He says that he thinks so as well. They laugh. Fern says that she didn’t expect that she will live so comfortably when she was an orphan. She wants to thank Heiter. He wants to thank his master as well.

Eisen cooked for Stark at home. He reminded him that he cannot become a strong fighter if he’s a picky eater. Stark ate the food. He wondered why Eisen kept him. Eisen said that he did it because Himmel would do it.

Frieren and Fern soaks in the hot spring together. Frieren notices that Fern is in a good mood. She guesses there was a good thing. Fern denies it. But she smiles.

It flashes back. Himmel and Frieren go to look for the cat. They don’t find the animal. Himmel smiles. Frieren doesn’t understand why he smiled. He explains it to her that he did it because he’s in a good mood. He thinks it’s a good day. She doesn’t think so. She mentions they have looked for the cat from the morning. He agrees with what she said. But he’s very happy because they went out together. She wonders if he would be happy even if they didn’t find the cat. He thinks it’s fine as long as the process is enjoyable even if the results aren’t as expected. He offers to try their best to look for the cat before Heiter and Eisen get a head start. The cat shows up. Frieren takes out her wand. She and Himmel go to chase the cat.

The next day. Frieren, Stark and Fern leave the city. Stark notices that Fern braided Frieren’s hair into a French braid again. The elf shows him the braided pigtails. She reminds him that Fern would do it when she was in a good mood. But he cannot see the difference.

The three get into the forest. Stark brings up that it’s been getting colder lately. Frieren thinks the weather has turned cold because they crossed the volcanic region. They see the sentry post. Stark can tell that security is extremely tight. Frieren thinks it means that it’s dangerous outside. The team is on the way to the sentry post. Frieren informs the teammates that they cannot resupply normally for a while. She offers to go to buy essential supplies. They buy the essential supplies. Fern puts the supplies into Frieren’s suitcase. Stark notices that the suitcase can hold a lot of things. They arrive at the sentry post. Fern gives her paper to the guard. He checks the paper. He learns that she’s the first-level mage Fern. He asks her to be careful. The gate opens. Stark is surprised that Fern is amazing. Frieren reveals first-level mage is the pinnacle of mage.

The team passes the sentry post. They arrive at the Northern Plateau. Stark heard it from someone that the place is very danger. But he thinks it’s an ordinary place after he experienced it. But Fern tells him that they’re surrounded. Four dinosaurs appear. Frieren, Stark and Fern take out their weapons. Frieren tells the teammates that it’s just the beginning. They kill the dinosaurs. But they encounter more monsters.

Stark is tired when he and the team arrive at the village in the evening. He expresses that he mistook that he would die. Fern mentions they haven’t relaxed for three days and three nights. She hopes the place can let them rest.

Frieren’s team gets into the house. The house owner allows them to take a break there. He reveals they have a vacant room. But he has a condition. The strong demon appeared on the street ahead. Even the Knights’ Order couldn’t deal with the demon. Merchant couldn’t come because of the reason. He asks them to help him kill the demon. Frieren agrees. After all, they need to head north. Stark points out that the house owner can leave the Northern Plateau as long as he heads south. He thinks he doesn’t have to live there. The house owner admits that it’s a danger place. But he grew up from the place. He takes a look at his two children. He says that the place is filled with many memories of family. He doesn’t want to give up his hometown.

The next day, Frieren’s team says goodbye to the house owner. They walk to the forest. They run into a runaway horse. The demon is eating the human in the forest. He notices that someone is behind him. He stops eating. He grabs his sword. He walks to the team. Frieren learns that the demon is the guy the house owner talked about. She asks her teammates to be careful.

The demon carries his sword to rush to Stark. Stark fights the demon. Fern finds out that she cannot aim at the demon. The demon tries to attack Stark with his sword. Stark blocks the attack with his weapon. He realizes that the demon is different from the demons he encountered. Frieren thinks it’s a tough opponent. She soars into the sky. She tries to aim at the demon. But he jumps above her. He cuts her with his sword. She creates a barrier. But she’s still knocked away. She’s fixed in the air. Stark and Fern are beneath her. They have weapons in their hands.

The three Form a triangular formation to face the demon. Frieren thinks the old trick doesn’t work to the guy. Fern summons four magic circles. The magic circles cast four light beams to the demon. The demon deftly dodges the light beams when he runs to Fern. She’s scared. He approaches her. He cuts her. Fortunately, she uses the barrier to counter the attack. But she’s still hit. Stark sees the broken barrier. He worries about his girl. He runs to the tree before Fern crashes into the tree. He absorbs the impact for her. But the demon doesn’t give them the time to take break.

Fern gets up. She creates a barrier again. The demon breaks the barrier the second time. Frieren strikes his arm from above. He discovers her. He pulls up a tree. She orders Stark to seal the demon’s action. He rushes to the demon. He tries to cut him. The demon uses the tree to block the attack. The tree is broken. Stark hugs the demon from his back. He claims that he won’t lose. He uses his axe to choke the demon. He calls Frieren.

Frieren summons a big magic circle from above. The magic circle unleashes a big light beam to the demon. The demon disappears. Stark wasn’t hurt by the beam. Because Fern created a barrier for him. He thinks the guy was strong after the fight. Frieren says that it’s just the entrance of the Northern Plateau. They will encounter a lot of demons like the demon. Fern realizes that their road will be tough. Stark thinks taking the sea route is a good choice. He wants to spend the money. Frieren smiles.

It flashes back. The hero party defeats the tough enemy in the forest. Frieren feels regret that they didn’t take the sea route. Frieren thinks they should pay attention to teamwork. Because they relied Stark to hold on. She turns around. She wonders why Stark still sits under a tree. He says that he doesn’t intend to do that. His legs go weak. Fern sighs. She thinks the guy isn’t useful. He complains it to the two ladies that the magic was too over-the-top.
