In the town, Fanny holds a comb in Outlander Season 8 episode 3. She tells Briana that Mrs. Abbott had the same comb. But Mrs. Abbott didn’t allow her to touch it. Briana asks Fanny to take the comb. The guy shows up. He tells Briana that she has a letter. She walks away. Another guy shows up. He tells Fanny that she’s very beautiful. He tries to touch her face. She’s furious to shake off his hand. He invites her to travel with him. She rejects it. He can tell that she’s an adventurer. She talks back that he’s a rat.
Briana comes back. She asks Fanny if the guy bothered her. Fanny tells Briana that the guy is a cop. Briana tries to go to talk with the cop. But Fanny stops Briana. In the house, James gives a letter to Claire. He tells her that the letter was sent by her ex-husband. He wonders what the guy wants from her. She reveals her ex-husband wants Briana. He plans to go to paint a portrait for his nephew’s wife and son. He invites her.
Claire is on the way to go to ask Briana if she wants to go. But James tells his wife that she won’t go. She reminds him that it doesn’t involve him. He points out that she will be involved with John. He knows she slept with John. He tells her that he’s a jealous man. He mentions she enjoyed it when he was suffering. He’s furious to leave the house. She tells him that he cannot stay away from John as long as he is with William.
Fanny shows up. She wonders what William did. She doesn’t understand why James was so angry. Claire tells Fanny that it’s not William’s problem. Fanny thinks Claire and James are good people. But she has to go. She mentions William asked James to take care of her. James doesn’t like William now. So he won’t take care of her. She worries that she will go back to Mrs. Abbott. Claire tells Fanny that she won’t go back. They accept her because they love her. She says that nobody can force James. She hugs Fanny.
In John’s house, William tells John that Ben isn’t dead. Because he didn’t find the guy’s body in his grave. John points out that Ben could be buried in another grave with another man’s name on it. He thinks the people who buried them mistaking the bodies. But William suspects that Ben fled. John believes that Ben would inform his commander if he fled. General Leslie was just sent to his army. General Prevost prepared a banquet for General Leslie. John can get an invitation for William if William wants to do that. But William knows John wants to help him rejoin society.
In James’s house, Briana and Claire are busy in the kitchen. Briana learns that John wants her to paint a portrait for him. She wonders why the guy wrote a letter to her father instead of Claire. Claire tells Briana that her father and John had a fight. The two guys don’t talk anymore. Briana asks Claire about the fight. Claire confesses it to her daughter that she married John when she thought James was dead. She explains it to her that she was going to be arrested after she was treated as a spy. John thought it was the only way. Briana thinks James has no reason to be angry because John was trying to help Claire. She’s shocked after knowing her mother slept with the man. Claire claims that she just did it one time. Briana wonders how she will face John after knowing the truth.
James visits Cunningham after the cop tangled Fanny. Cunningham reveals the cop is his son’s friend. He came to give a gun. He promises James that the two guys won’t hurt Fanny anymore. Because they won’t come back. James is satisfied to leave with the gun.
The lady breaks into the room when William is getting changed. She explains it to him that she thought he left. She takes out a tank top. She suggests that he should wear it. She reveals the present was for Ben. She wishes he will use it. She helps him wear the tank top. The lady Amaranthus tells William that her father isn’t a noble. He thinks her name is very beautiful.
In James’s house, Briana persuades her father to go to the city to by weapons. So they can protect themselves. But James doesn’t want to abandon the people in the town. James is angry to return to his room. Claire persuades her husband to accept Briana and Roger’s offer. But he knows the two won’t go to the city. He believes that John prepared anything. She regrets for telling the truth to him. He forgives her. Because he thinks she betrayed him. He minds it that John stayed in his bed ever. He sleeps with her. He’s happy to kiss her.
The next day, James walks out of the house. Claire is reading Frank’s book. She thinks Frank is tormenting her. Because she falls for James. She leaves the book. William finds General Leslie at the party. He asks him about Ben. But the general knows nothing about it except the letter Ben sent to him. He tells William that his father was a prison warden.
Agnes visits Claire. She tells her that her mother was hurt. Claire follows Agnes. She finds her mother Susanna. Susanna is pregnant. She tries to give birth. But the baby doesn’t come out. Claire takes Susanna home. She finds out that the woman has twins. She suggests that she should walk. So the twins will be born.
At the party, John’s brother asks John to help him meet James. John agrees. But he wants to see Captain Richardson. Aaron visits James. He’s Susanna’s husband. James lets the guy in. Aaron tries to take Susanna away. But Agnes goes against it. She tells her father that her mother needs help. But he scolds her for making them in danger. James stops the man. He suggests that he should let his wife get the treatment. But Aaron doesn’t trust James. James promises Aaron that they won’t betray him. Susanna begs her husband. Aaron realizes that he cannot change it. He drinks with James.
William visits Amaranthus with a present. She’s excited to go downstairs. But what he gives her is Ben’s uniform. She tries to put the uniform into the drawer. But he finds the general statue that he gave Ben. She reveals Ben gave it to her before he went to raid. Outside the house, Amaranthus suggests that William shouldn’t live for others. She kisses him.
In the evening, the twins are born in Claire’s help. But one of the babies is dead. Claire tries to save the baby. The baby reminds her the baby that she lost. The baby is alive. James hands over the baby to Susanna. Claire tells James that she saved the baby because Raymond gave the power to her. James thinks his wife did a good job. But he didn’t see any blue light. She thinks Raymond could save her child Faith if he didn’t leave France.
The next day, James takes Fanny to see the rock. He tells her that the rock is her sister Jane. She pays her respect to Jane. She hugs James. She thanks him for doing it for her. But they hear the gunshot. James asks Fanny to stay there and not move. He manages to find Cleveland. Cleveland is very happy after he got the gun. He killed the two guys who carried the guns. But he doesn’t know who they are. Fanny shows up. She reports it to Cleveland that the guys are horrible men. James finds a letter from the dead’s boot. Cleveland wants to know what James got. James claims that it’s his business. He asks Cleveland to leave. Cleveland agrees. But he takes away the guns.

James visits Cunningham. He closes the door. He has known that the friends of his son came back. They took two boxes of guns. He knows the two guys came to see Cunningham. They were buried in the forest. They were killed by a mad man from the mountain. Cunningham thinks the two guys are very poor. He decides to write a letter to their families.
James takes out the letter. The letter was written by Cunningham’s uncle. The guy wishes he will receive guns from Cunningham. Cunningham confesses it to James that his commander Patrick asked him to recruit an army. He persuades him to let the king win. He invites him to fight with him. He thinks it’s the only thing he can do if he wants to protect the people on the land. He opens the door for him. James walks out of Cunningham’s office. He realizes that he cannot avoid his fate. He rides his horse away.
