In the acting classroom, Kel ends the class in Not Suitable for Work episode 8. He tells the students that next class, they will get into comparing of Pride and Prejudice and Mansfield Park. The girl asks him why Jane Austen wrote the characters of Kitty and Lydia if their personalities are identical. He tells her that the topic they’re going to talk about tomorrow. Another girl scolds the teacher. She mentions there’s still five minutes left in class.
Denver Is For Lovers

Kel tells Beth that studies haven shown kids need quiet time to metabolize what they have learned. She asks him to cite his sources. He tells everyone to close their eyes and think about the material. He flees after the girl closed their eyes.
Kel runs to Josh when Josh is waiting for Kel in the park. Kel forgot his change of clothes. He begins to get changed. He tells Josh that he doesn’t have a choice. Between teaching and his rehearsal schedule for the play. He asks him to squirt some water in his mouth. Josh loves Kel’s dedication. But he worries that he cannot handle it. Kel says that it’s the life of an artist. He thinks he did a good job. He asks Josh for some food. Josh only has a small bag of cashews. It’s his midday snack. Kel takes the food. He thanks Josh before he runs away. But Josh doesn’t know how to deal with the clothes on the ground.
At Abby’s house, AJ takes something into the room. Abby wishes it’s not Christmas decorations. She’s scared of the elf on the shelf. AJ notices the elf. Abby asks AJ if she did it. AJ denies it. She tells Abby that the elf will return to Santa if she touches it. She opens the gift for Bill. It’s a ring. Abby suggests that AJ shouldn’t give the ring to Bill. She reminds her that rings are often associated with marriage. More importantly, it’s ugly. AJ admits that it’s ugly. But it’s meaningful.
Bill was the first person in his family to go to college. But he couldn’t afford a class ring when he graduated. So AJ went on eBay. She found out that his classmate just died. She’s excited. She wants to give it to him at the Fisher Stassen holiday party.
AJ invites Abby to go to the party with her. But Abby needs to work. AJ asks Abby if she found a new celebrity to style. Abby says that she targets Jack McBrayer. AJ knows the guy is hilarious. But she doesn’t think he knows fashion. Abby points out that Austin didn’t know fashion as well. She thinks the fast way to build her client roster is to transform normal famous people into fashionable ones. She needs to find a way to talk to Jack’s publicist. She’s working on it.
Josh goes to the shop to buy bread. But his cards don’t work. He calls someone. He’s told that his father cut him off. He realizes that David did it because he got him to clean up a spill. David thinks his son’s attitude was terrible. He will get over it as long as Josh apologizes. Josh refuses to apologize. Because he’s not his sister. He stands up his actions. He’s a man of principle. But he forgets that his father is extremely vindictive. He doesn’t need his father. Because he has a job in television.
Kel pushes a big TV into the classroom. He tells the students that Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle are going to replace him to teach them. Beth asks him where he’s going when he tries to leave the classroom. He explains it to her that he thought they wanted to watch it without him. The male gaze. She tells him that it’s not that masculine. It’s not a problem.
In the investing banking, AJ invites Davis to have lunch with her. He rejects her invitation. He tells her that he has lunch plans. She asks him if he’s fine. She mentions he has been pretty quiet recently. He tells her that he’s great. She points out that he has ever spoken to her. He reminds her that he only talked to a small wipey board when he had strep for a week. He tells her that he will make sure his pain is more memorable for her.
At the network, Josh meets Paula in her office. He tells her that he’s very poor. She brings up that he orders takeout every day and leaves his leftovers in the fridge. He’s rich. He explains it to her that his situation has recently changed. He needs a raise. She tells him that TV journalism is a dying industry. She’s a 62 years woman with a wife and a roommate. He asks her why she keeps doing the job. She tells him that it’s not about the money. Their payment is keeping the world from going completely to ruin. She doesn’t care if he steals food from the snack station.
In the evening, Abby visits Morgan. She pretends to be a messenger to get a chance to talk to her. Morgan asks Dylan to call security. Abby stops Morgan. She introduces herself as a stylist. She worked with Austin. Morgan realizes that Abby was the one who changed Austin. Abby wants to work with Jack. But Morgan tells Abby that Jack doesn’t need a stylist. He’s not interested in that kind of stuff. But Abby thinks Jack should catch the chance in men’s fashion. She wants to style him for free.
Morgan reveals Jack will do a live reading of his memoir tomorrow. He has been saying he wants to be more rock and roll. She will pitch Abby to the guy.
At Josh’s house, Josh thanks Davis for helping him with his finances. Davis asks Josh about the 150 dollars charges. Josh reveals Roberto executes his hair vision. He’s his barber. Davis tells Josh that Roberto isn’t his barber anymore. Because Josh is going to Supercuts. Kel returns home. Davis asks Kel about his rehearsal. The rehearsal went smoothly.
Josh asks Kel how often he gets a facial. Kel says that he never did it. Josh thinks beautiful people save so much money. Davis tells Kel that Josh is budgeting for the first time in his life. Josh wants to keep his monthly donation to the Sierra Club. He cannot live like this. He tries to call his father to apologize. Davis stops Josh. He tells him and Kel that he’s going to take them to the Fisher Stassen holiday party tomorrow. Free food, free drinks. They rage all night.
Kel asks Davis if he’s sure that he wants to go to the party. He knows AJ and Bill will be there. Davis doesn’t care. He says that he feels nothing when he looks at the beauty. He has moved on.
Josh walks out of the building. He runs into AJ. There’s a free reading at the library. Davis said that Josh cannot afford to buy audiobooks. Josh wants to go to the library. AJ volunteers to accompany the guy to take a walk. She has a question. She mentions Davis barely spoke to her at work. She guesses something happened. He reveals Kel knew she was seeing someone. And he saw Bill leaving her apartment. They had to tell Davis.
AJ realizes that she’s so stupid. She asks Josh if he thinks Davis will tell anyone. Josh doesn’t thinks Davis is that type of person. She tells him that she and Bill are getting serious. She thinks they’re going to tell people at work in the new year. She doesn’t want to mess it up. He promises her that they will keep the secret for her.
The next day, Kel walks into the classroom. He asks Kate if she wanted to see him. He asks Beth what she’s doing there. She tells him that they both wanted to see him. She asks him to have a seat. Kate tells Beth that she will tell people when to have a seat. She asks Kel to have a seat. She asks him if he has been leaving his class unsupervised. He explains it to her that he had a tech rehearsal for his play. Beth yells at her teacher. She knew something was off when she met him. She asks Kate to arrest Kel.
But Kate tells Beth that she cannot do that. Beth tells Kel that he’s fired. Kel isn’t fired. But there’re consequences. He will chaperone the formal tonight to show his commitment to the students. Beth thinks it’s not a punishment. The formal will be the best night of her life. Kel will be there wearing something dorky. It’s unfair. She thinks she’s right that he didn’t care about teaching. She’s furious to leave the classroom.
Kel doesn’t want to chaperone the dance. He needs to attend his roommate’s holiday party tonight. He really learned his lesson. They can talk about it when they eat dinner. She tells him that she wants to try the new restaurant. But he has to chaperone the dance. He will be in charge of building the balloon arch and making sure the kids won’t hook up in the bathroom.
In the evening, Josh and Davis arrive at the party. Davis decides to talk to 15 ladies. He asks Josh to help him. But Josh cannot do it. He takes out the Tupperware he prepared. Davis tries to approach the ladies. But they walk away.
At the formal, Marina invites Kel to dance with her. But he rejects her. The girl tells Marine that Beth is crying in the bathroom. Marine doesn’t know why Beth cries. She mentions she has been acting like a dictator about the dance.
At the party, AJ wants to have a talk with Davis. But he says that he’s busy. She grabs him aside. She tells him that she knows he knows about her and Bill. She thinks she should have told him. He guesses she was excited when she hid the secret from them. She mocked him when she was in bed. She tells him that she and Billy never did that. She asks him not to tell anyone.
Kel gets in the bathroom. He asks Beth what happened. She complains it to him that her mother didn’t get the dress tailored well, everything is ruined. She tells him that everyone lets her down. She decides to go find her boyfriend, Rocco. Since her self-esteem is so low, she will probably go all the way. He stops her. He thinks someone can help her.
Kel calls Abby when she’s on the subway. He asks her to help his student. But she’s on the way to the biggest fitting of her life. She hates kids. He begs her that he’s at the school dance, his student’s dress doesn’t fit. She’s crying. She won’t leave the bathroom. She’s threatening to lose her virginity to Rocco. Beth emphasizes it’s the winter formal. Abby learns that it’s a formal. A formal is the most defining moment of a high school girl’s life. She decides to help Beth.
At the party, AJ gives the ring to Bill. She offers to do their holiday dinner. But he tells her that he needs to go on a business trip next week. She thinks they can do their dinner after he came back.
At the formal, Abby fixes Beth’s dress. Beth thinks Abby is very cool. She doesn’t understand why she’s friends with Kel. But she thanks her. Abby tells Beth that she looks better than the reference. But Beth thinks it’s so rude to Kylie. Abby leaves the formal. Kate isn’t happy after she saw Abby flirting with Kel.
At the party, Josh hears that Bill is going to leave town with his girlfriend tomorrow for Aspen. Josh laughs. He thinks AJ is a lucky girl.
Abby meets Jack at his place. She thanks him for giving her the chance. But he tells her that he’s a bad boy. She has a perfect jacket for him. But she left the jacket on the subway.
At the party, Josh knows AJ is going to go to Aspen. He asks her to tell his father that he’s doing great if she runs into his father. But she tells him that she won’t go to Aspen. He reveals he heard that Bill was going with his girlfriend tomorrow. She tells him that she’s so sleep deprived, she forgot it.
Kel walks out of the formal. He calls Abby. He asks her about her and Jack. She tells him that she was fired. Because he made her lose a 18,000 dollars jacket. He thinks it’s not his fault. She tells him that she left it on the subway when he made her go to the stupid school. She finds out that her door is open. She hangs up.
Abby gets in her house. AJ is crying on the couch. The girl at the party is interested in Davis when Abby is sad. Abby is told that Billy cheated on AJ. She decides to go to visit the guy with AJ. But AJ rejects it. She says that she took her bra off. Abby asks AJ to put a jacket on. She reminds her that she needs an answer. But AJ knows the answer. Abby tells AJ that she should ruin Bill’s vacation. AJ guesses the guy will fall off a ski lift when he thinks about it.
At Josh’s house, Josh tells a good news to Kel that Davis got a girl’s number with just one coat. Davis asks Josh to tell him that AJ isn’t that great. She’s not that pretty, and she’s not the girl of his dreams. But Josh cannot do it. He tells Davis that he will find a better girl than AJ. But Davis has been trying for decades. Kel blames the building. He offers to move to Denver if they cannot find girlfriends.

AJ and Abby visit Bill. Abby walks away to let AJ talk to Bill alone. AJ rings the doorbell. Bill opens the door. She asks him who he’s going to Aspen with. He confesses it to her that he and Catherine got back together. She came into town a few weeks ago and wanted to talk. She mentions what he said that they were exclusive. But he tells her that she made him want to be. She asks him if he’s kidding. He lied on a technicality. She asks him if it makes him feel better.
He denies it. He apologizes to her. He tells her that they don’t have a future. He knew it. But he did it anyway because he liked her so much. She doesn’t understand why they cannot get together since he likes her so much. She’s great. But she’s not the person he should be with. They’re too similar. She learns that he wants someone who sits at home and makes him breakfast in bed. Someone who doesn’t challenge him, or understand him, or get the thing he devoted his life to. He says that he needs it. That’s what they need to do the job. He needs a Catherine to take care of him, and trust him. She needs someone like that as well. Abby and AJ get on the subway. She leans on her shoulder when she cries.
