Do-Won is gentle to whisper in Yi-Young’s ear. He reminds her that she cannot leave the hospital before she pays off the debt in Resident Playbook Episode 2.
Episode 2
The residents begin to be busy. They complete their work. It’s 10 p.m. It’s the earliest time to leave work to Yi-Young and her friends. But the four need to report to their senior about what they did. The senior is a difficult man. They need to report it again once they make a mistake. Yi-Young wants to die when she thinks about that there will be seven surgeries tomorrow.
The next day, Jung-Min holds a book reading class. The four doze off and play pens except Sa-Bi. They answer questions in Sa-Bi’s help. Yi-Young is free. She hides in a corner and she listens to the music. But the senior Eun-Won calls her and he informs her that the pregnant woman is in the throes. The pregnant woman needs a laparotomy.
Yi-Young runs back to the hospital. She contacts the senior in the anesthesiology department. She wishes him to arrange an operating room for her. The operating room is ready. Yi-Young calls Eun-Won. Eun-Won asks Yi-Young to take the seat in the operating room. She promises to bring the pregnant woman.
But Yi-Young doesn’t see the pregnant woman after half hour. The anesthesiologist begins to urge Yi-Young. But she finds out that Eun-Won takes another pregnant woman to the ward. She asks her about it. But Eun-Won pretends nothing happened. She doesn’t mention the surgery. The anesthesiologist scolds Yi-Young. He suspects that she told a lie for taking the operating room. She’s wronged. But she has to endure it on her own.
She needs to take a photo of herself and send the photo to the group in the morning. What she took is a sour expression. She thinks she cannot work if she continues to be busy. She forgets to send the photo. She explains it to Eun-Won. But Eun-Won believes that Yi-Young is telling a lie. Yi-Young is furious to hang up.
She carries her bag and she plans to go home. She has a temper even if she’s broke. The Hospital issues an emergency alert. Yi-Young hesitates but she arrives at the scene in the end. She does first aid for the pregnant woman.
The maternity and the baby survive because of Yi-Young’s first aid. Eun-Won praises Yi-Young for the first time. She asks her to continue to monitor the maternity’s vitals. The next day, Yi-Young completes the work Eun-Won asked her to do. She only wants to get off work.
But Do-Won gives her a task. He asks her to accompany the maternity to transfer. The maternity’s condition is good. Yi-Young doesn’t have to worry about it. Do-Won just wants Yi-Young to go out for a walk. But the maternity feels uncomfortable on the way.
Yi-Young contacts Do-Won. He tells her to be easy. He asks her to have a routine checkup. She does it but she still worries about the maternity. She asks the driver to drive faster. The ambulance arrives at the hospital. But Yi-Young doesn’t leave immediately. She waits at the hospital and she confirms that the maternity is fine.
Fortunately, the doctor Min-Ha who took over reveals that the maternity is fine. Yi-Young feels relieved. She cannot forgive herself all her life if something happened to the maternity. Min-Ha buys Yi-Young a cup of coffee. She mentions her story when she was a resident. She was like Yi-Young who was flustered and she kept getting scolded by her seniors. The difference is that she didn’t have time to care for maternity’s feelings. Yi-Young treated maternity first. She did the things Min-Ha didn’t do. Min-Ha thinks Yi-Young is great. She gives a paper to her. She asks her to give it to Do-Won.
Yi-Young does it. But Do-Won finds out what Min-Ha gave him is a blank sheet of paper. He realizes what she means. He asks Yi-Young to observe the delivery of twins. She tries to answer it. But the anesthesiologist scolds Yi-Young for not expressing it well when she said anesthesia in English.
Yi-Young is wronged. She doesn’t dare to defend herself. But Do-Won takes her side. He thinks she didn’t say anything wrong. The anesthesiologist mentions Yi-Young took the operating room. Do-Won still helps Yi-Young. He thinks his junior wouldn’t tell a lie for the operating room. He reminds the anesthesiologist that she shouldn’t scold his follower.
Yi-Young is moved. She bows to Do-Won. She thanks him. He worries that she will flee. He approaches her and he reminds her that she needs to pay off her debt. He’s intimate. It makes her have feelings for him. Other three residents are tired as well.
Nam-Kyung is arranged to change a patient’s medication. The patient Mi-So is picky. She asks Nam-Kyung to change medication for her on time. Nam-Kyung wants to cry after the patient gave her a hard time. She complains it to the nurse. But Mi-So asks Nam-Kyung to change medication for her. Nam-Kyung is careful to serve Mi-So.
It’s lunch time. Nam-Kyung gets a call from the nurse. She’s asked to come back within ten minutes. She takes a few bites and she doesn’t have time to wipe the stain off her clothes. But she runs into her classmate. The classmate is well-dressed and she’s going to get married.
Nam-Kyung is depressed. She tells the nurse that she won’t change Mi-So’s medicine. She takes off her ID and she gets in the cab. She wants to go shopping. The driver plays the song. Nam-Kyung is sad when she listens to the song. The nurse sends a message to Nam-Kyung. She asks her to tidy up Mi-So’s ward. Nam-Kyung realizes that something bad happened. She returns to the hospital.
Mi-So isn’t in the ward. Her family is crying. Nam-Kyung mistakes that Mi-So is very sick. She decides to change her medicine for the last time. But she turns around and she finds out that Mi-So is behind her. Mi-So just changed a ward.
Nam-Kyung cries when she changes Mi-So’s medicine. She worries that what she fears comes true. Mi-So apologizes to Nam-Kyung. She’s always in a bad mood because she’s sick. So she didn’t think about her feelings. Nam-Kyung laughs and she encourages Mi-So. She promises to accompany her until she leaves the hospital.
Sa-Bi is still like a robot. She refuses to say something nice to the maternity Eun-Pyo. She claims that she doesn’t have any way even if the maternity feels uncomfortable. The maternity is furious to tell Sa-Bi that she’s not fit to be a doctor.
The senior Ki-Sun scolds Sa-Bi. She asks her to go to apologize to the maternity. But Sa-Bi doesn’t get the chance to apologize. She’s scolded by her senior again. She’s sad and she thinks she cannot to be a doctor. Fortunately, Jung-Min gives Sa-Bi advice. She asks her to do the things that she’s good at.
Sa-Bi visits the maternity in the evening. She analyzes her physical condition. She reminds her that she has epilepsy. But the maternity doesn’t believe it. She turns around and she passes out. She wakes up. Sa-Bi tells the maternity that she wants to be a doctor. The maternity apologizes to Sa-Bi. She wishes her to be in charge of her second child. But Sa-Bi doesn’t understand the maternity’s hint. She smiles after the maternity reminded her. She expresses her apologies and thanks to the maternity.

Jae-Il is ignored by his seniors. It seems that nobody needs him. He skips work and he goes to eat something. The three colleagues urge him to come back in the evening. They need him. He’s excited to return to the hospital. He finds out that they called him back for reporting it to the senior.
But Eun-Won tells the four that they don’t need to report it to her in the future. They don’t know Do-Won helped them. Jae-Il could skip work because his two seniors wished him to take a break.
