Dutton Ranch: Episode 1 Recap

Beth takes care of the horse in the stable in Dutton Ranch episode 1. She leads the horse out of the stable. Rip is waiting for her on horseback. She rides the horse to join him. He asks her if she’s ready. She nods. They ride horses in the mountain together.

Dutton Ranch Episode 1

In the evening, Beth and Rip take a break under the tree. He drinks when she leans on him. She asks him if he imagined that they could have the quiet. He never did it. She takes over the wine from him. She drinks the wine. He tells her that her riding with him reminds him the time that he was free. He asks her if she’s happy. She says yes. She doesn’t want to let the beauty go. She asks him if they can always do it. He tells her that they can ride if she wants to do that. He promises her. He receives a kiss from her.

They fall asleep. But they’re awakened by a tornado. Rip tells his wife that they have to leave. They ride the horses to the ranch. They see the fire. He asks her to go to get Carter. He will go to cut the fences. Beth returns home. She gets her son Carter to go downstairs. He asks her what happened. She doesn’t give him the answer. She asks him to go to pack his stuff. He asks her about Rip. She says that the guy is with the herd.

Carter runs out of his house with his stuff. Beth prepares a car. She gets off the car. She asks him to open the trailer. She leads the horse into the trailer. She asks him to go to get his horse.

At the ranch, Rip cuts the fences. He drives the herd out of the ranch. Outside Beth’s house, Carter’s horse is safe to get in the trailer. Beth looks at the fire. She tells Carter that they should leave. They get in the car. They leave home. Rip finds an animal who’s trapped in the fire. He goes to save her.

Beth and Carter arrive at the camp. She sees a helicopter flying across the sky. She returns to the car. She asks Carter to help her unhook the trailer. He stays to take care of the horses. He does it. She tells him that she will be back.

Beth returns to the ranch to look for Rip. He shows up with the cow he just saved. She feels relieved after she saw him. She runs to him. He hugs her. He tells her that it’s all gone. She comforts him that it’s fine. Because they can start again. But he still feels sorry.

Six Months Later, Beth wakes up from the nightmare. She walks out of the house. Rip is drinking. She couldn’t sleep. He misses waking up to the mountains. She sits on the chair. She doesn’t understand why it’s so hot at four in the morning. He reminds her that it’s Texas.

Chet takes Rob-Will to visit Wes. He reports to him that Wes refused to go with him because he suspected him. Rob-Will gets in the house. He wakes Wes up. He tells him that Heifer’s calving backwards. He needs his help. Wes goes to the ranch with Rob-Will and Chet. He discovers that there’s no breeched heifer. Rob-Will gets off the car. He asks Wes if he looked at his tally book. He thinks he has been looking at his operation. He asks him if he’s a snitch. He shoots him.

Chet blames Rob-Will for killing the guy. Rob-Will explains that he did it because Wes hesitated. He realizes that they cannot bury Wes there. He asks Chet to go to fetch a tarp.

At Rip’s house, Rip is feeding the cows. Beth shows up. She thinks those guys look nice and fat. He reveals they hit 1,300 yesterday. He plans to buy another couple dozen. She looks at the sky. She says that it doesn’t stop. He comforts her that may she can one day if she looks hard enough.

Beth and Rip leave the cow house. They run into Azul. The guy is standing by the car. He greets Beth. Rip says goodbye to his wife. He takes over the coffee from Azul. They leave.

The lady leads two men to the trap. She discovers that some wild boars are trapped. She learns that they didn’t check traps for a long time. She guesses those guys will start to cannibalize each other if they don’t come. She asks Miguel to stay there to help Tommy. She rides away. But Miguel shoots the boars.

Carter studies math at home. He doesn’t want to do it. Because he thinks he won’t have a chance to use it. Beth gives him a test. He fails the test. She tells him that Ranchers need math. He reveals some kids were talking about going to the rodeo. She suggests that he should go.

The lady returns to the base. She asks the guy where is everyone. The guy Lou says that he’s thinking about it. He has been doing it for half hour. She realizes that he was the one who called. He contacted Rob-Will. But Rob-Will didn’t pick up his phone. She asks him to sit tight. She will have someone to go to look for Rob-Will.

The lady Beulah Jackson returns home. She looks for her son Rob-Will. But the guy isn’t at home. She asks Joaquin to go to look for his brother. She complains it to him that the foreman who’s likely off the wagon. She asks him not to pretend that he’s silly.

Rip and Azul buy the feed from the store. Azul is recognized by his friend. He’s happy to talk with his friend. Azul tells Rip that his father was the foreman of his ranch. In the classroom, the teacher is teaching. The girl Oreana Lynn flirts with Carter.

At a gas station, Rip is filing up. He sees Chet. Chet calls Joaquin. He asks him to come. He tells him that he cannot control his brother. Azul is shopping at the convenience store. Rob-Will provokes Azul. Azul ignores the mad man. Rob-Will follows Azul out of the store. He calls him wetback. Azul cannot stand it. He tries to beat Rob-Will. But Rip stops Azul. Rob-Will tries to pull out his gun to shoot Rip. But Rip punches Rob-Will. Rob-Will threatens Rip that he will give him a lesson next time. Chet apologizes to Rip for Rob-Will. He tells him that the guy is drunk. Rob-Will drives away. Rip returns the gun to Chet. He asks him to leave.

At the school, Carter finds Oreana Lynn in the cafeteria. She’s talking with some girls at the table. The girls are talking about the rodeo. He guesses they will attend it tonight. The girl Lucy asks him how old he is.

Beth visits the company. She tells the employee that she wants to schedule her six steer for slaughter. But the employee thinks Beth should have called. Beth did it three times. The employee claims that they’re booked solid. Beth asks the woman if she doesn’t want to make money.

Beulah says that they like money plenty. Beth reports it to Beulah that her receptionist doesn’t want to take her business. But Beulah takes the receptionist’s side. She thinks Danise is just doing her job. She introduces herself as the owner of the joint. Beth claims that she has 100 percent Texas-bred Black Angus herd. Beulah realizes that Beth bought the Edwards Ranch. Their genetics are legendary. The ranch belongs to Dutton now.

Beulah invites Beth to go to her office to have a seat. She plans to arrange it for her. But Beth rejects it. She tells Beulah that she just needs to kill the six steer. But Beulah says that they don’t normally open the lairage for anything less then 50 head. Beth persuades Beulah that six will turn into 150. Beulah reveals they have serviced some smaller outfits in the past. But as of late, every cow comes from one ranch. Beth laughs. She guesses the ranch is Beulah’s ranch.

Beulah asks Danise to pull up the calendar. She decides to take Beth Monday. Beth is very happy after knowing the good news. She tries to pay the deposit. Beulah tells Beth that she doesn’t need to pay the deposit. They can cut of the profits. It’s the rule before Beth gets to 150. Beth thinks it’s an extortion. Beulah tells Beth that she has to slaughter her steers elsewhere. Beth decides to do it on her own. Beulah teases Beth that she will like the job.

At Dutton Ranch, Rip and Azul are training the cows. Azul kills a snake. Rip asks Azul to go to Mistress Pasture to kill the hogs.

At the bar, Beth is drinking. The guy Hoyt enters the bar. He tells the bar girl Carol that he wants to drink a Comfort and Coke. But she says that they’re out of SoCo. He wants to jump back and get a better look himself. But Everett McKinney stops Hoyt. He orders a cup of iced tea. He persuades the guy to be a better man. Hoyt leaves the bar.

Beth sees chivalry from Everett. She asks him if he’s always spicy. He says that he only does it to bad people. He asks her if she’s a bad girl. She says that she’s not a bad girl today. She likes to pick her battles.

Joaquin arrives at the gas station. He asks Chet when is his brother when Chet gets in his car. Chet doesn’t know it. He tries to tell Joaquin that he didn’t kill the guy. But Joaquin asks Chet to be careful what he says even if he trusts him. He asks him where is Wes. Chet doesn’t know it as well. He takes out the gun.

Beth is on the way home. But the horse blocks her way. She takes a gun from her car. She tries to shoot him. But she discovers that he was hurt. She cannot do that. Everett shows up. He tells her that he will take care of it. He tries to give the horse a shot. But she stops him. She asks him would he try to save the horse if he was a human. He refuses to answer her the question. She asks him if he’s a good vet. He thinks he is. She asks him to do his job. He decides to save the horse since it’s her wish.

Carter leaves the school. Oreana Lynn is waiting for him by his car. She’s not sure if the car belongs to him. She came to apologize. She asks him if he will go to the rodeo tonight. He nods. She offers to have a meeting there. She laughs to walk away.

At Dutton Ranch, Azul thanks Rip for helping him. He reveals he knows someone who’s good at training horses. At the rodeo, Carter looks for Oreana Lynn with the flowers. The girl shows up. She’s happy to call him. He gives the flowers to her. He tells her that these are for no reason at all. But she thinks he’s sweet. She asks him if he’s thirsty. She lets him hold her hand. She takes him to buy some wine. But he says that he’s only 19. He worries that the salesgirl will card him. But she asks him to trust her. She offers to have a meeting behind the porta-cans. He buys the wine. But the wine is for her friends. She leaves with her friends.

Beth arrives at Everett’s clinic. He shows her the horse he just saved. She thanks him. At the rodeo, Oreana Lynn has a fight with her boyfriend in the car. The guy tries to tangle her. Carter beats the guy. He’s arrested by the cop soon.

Rob-Will returns home. He opens the fridge. He begins to drink the wine. Beulah shows up. She tells him that his brother is looking for him. She feels relieved after knowing he’s fine. He confesses it to her that he did a bad thing. But she doesn’t want to know it. She asks him to go to talk to his brother.

Beth comes home. She gives the drink to Rip. She tells him that they need to take care of a horse. The horse is in the hospital. They need to find a new slaughterhouse. The previous slaughterhouse has a terrible management. He’s happy after knowing she made a new friend. She misses her father. But she doesn’t want to live like him. Because it was too hard. Rip gives his wife a kiss. He leaves.

At the police station, Carter is locked in the jail. The cop visits him. He thinks he shouldn’t have used his first to resolve the problem. Carter claims that he tried to protect a girl. The cop thinks it’s a good reason. Carter is released. Oreana Lynn is waiting for him. She holds the hat. She guesses it belongs to him. He realizes that she bailed him out. She reveals she knows Sheriff Wade. She told the sheriff that he saved her.

The next day, Rip leaves home. Beth goes to Carter’s room. She sees her son sleeping in the bed. She returns to the kitchen. She sees a yellow rose. She smells the rose. At Beulah’s house, Beulah asks Joaquin to clean up for Rob-Will. But he thinks it won’t be easy this time. He wants to drive his brother away. Because he knows the guy will ruin her ranch if he stays there. He plans to send him to rehab. Put him somewhere quiet, discreet. He asks her to go to persuade Rob-Will. Their ranch needs a new foreman. He asks her to bury Rob-Will’s mistake. Rip goes to the ranch to drive hogs. He finds a body. It’s Wes.
