At the Verdigris House, Lahan visits Maomao when she’s making herb in The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 episode 5. She asks him why was it him? He thinks she’s rude. He has a seat. She introduces him as the person of La Clan. He’s the nephew of weirdo Military Strategist. He’s also his adopted son. Maomao doesn’t expect that Lahan would be interested in Juggling Performance.
Lahan mentions everyone is interested in the show. He heard that the person who had Albinism was a beauty. Maomao forgot the man cannot resist beautiful things. But he’s different from others. Beauty is presented through numbers in his eyes. Weirdo’s adopted son is a weirdo as well. He invites her to go with him. He thinks she’s very curious as well. She doesn’t deny. But she wants to know what benefits he’s going to get. She figures he wants to win Weirdo Military Strategist over.
He tells her that Godfather doesn’t come. But his subordinate comes. The guy tells Maomao that he’s Military Strategist’s subordinate Lusun. Maomao knows Lahan wouldn’t visit her without a reason. He’s a miser second only to Madam. He says he needs to do business with West. He plans to invite some Street Performers to perform at the banquet. After all, there’re females in the other party’s guests. So he wants to listen to what women have to say.
Lusun reveals Lakan minded it. Maomao thinks what Lakan said was baseless. He had the instinct like monster. Lusun looked into the street artists. He heard a rumor.
Maomao walks out of the Verdigris House. She wishes there won’t be trouble. She gets in the carriage. The theater where the fairy stays is located in the busiest area. The waitress brings the Baked Pastries and wine. Maomao thinks it’s a wonderful combination. She smells the wine. She likes wine very much. But she will drink it later. She asks Lahan does he want her to test poison for him. He rejects it. She asks Lusun doesn’t he drink it? He says he doesn’t want to lose his composure alone.
White Lady shows up on the stage. Jinshi makes a judgement that she comes from west, according to her demeanor. She chooses Lahan’s table. Lahan asks Maomao to go to meet White Lady. It’s a good chance to take a closer look at White Lady.
Maomao walks to the stage. She sees White Lady’s blood vessels. It’s not the white that is applied by white powder. White Lady asks Maomao to write down a number that she likes. She shouldn’t let her see it when she’s writing. She folds it into a tiny shape, not let anyone see it. Maomao writes the number seven on the paper. White Lady asks Maomao to put it into one of the pipes. She should cover with a sheer veil after she does it.
White Lady grabs Maomao’s hand. Maomao notices that White Lady has poor eyesight. White Lady tells Maomao that she knows the number she wrote was seven. Maomao thinks White Lady is like a white snake.
It flashes back. Maomao tries to kill the white snake. Ruomen persuades her not to do it. The white snake is an envoy of God. But she thinks the animal isn’t related to God. But her father brings out that set of moral values.
At present, Maomao feels hot. Her head really hurts. It seems like there are some mosquitoes flying around her ears. The assistant takes out the paper from the pipe. He shows the number to the audience. Basen wonders how did White Lady make it? Jinshi believes that Maomao can see through the trick.
Maomao returns to the table. Lahan asks her what happened. She says she has no idea. He suspects she received money from White Lady, and she colluded with her. She talks back that she’s different from him. He asks her did someone see it when she was writing? She thinks it wasn’t seen. Only White Lady and Assistant on the stage. She suspects there was a mirror. But she denies it. The fog was so thick, and the light was dim. The mirror would fog up. Most importantly, White Lady has poor eyesight. She cannot see things in front of her clearly. So how did she make it?
White Lady puts the copper sheet into the unknown liquid. It turns into silver sheet. She burns the silver sheet. It turns into gold sheet. Basen stands up. He says it’s impossible. Lahan asks Maomao can she explain it? She wants to talk about it later. She needs to focus on the show.
White Lady drinks up the silver liquid. She asks the guests did they have a good time? They will meet again. The guests applaud. They think it was a great immortal art. But Jinshi believes that it was a mechanism. He asks Basen to figure which high-ranking officials visit the place. He says White Lady is a dangerous person.
Maomao stops Lusun from drinking the wine. She tastes the wine. She says it was added into something. The wine tastes good like juice. But it’s with complex flavors. It’s added salt. Although it’s not poison, it’s to make people get drunk. The flickering lanterns in the dark room. The mysterious fog and a fairy. An incredible phenomenon.
