Gu Qianfan asks the prisoner about the painting. He stands up. The prisoner recognizes Gu Qianfan. He’s scared. He confesses that the painting is in Qiantang County.
The eunuch tells Gu Qianfan to walk to him. He praises him for making the prisoner pass out. The eunuch Lei Jing believes that Gu Qianfan will find the truth. He tells him to take back the painting. Zhao Paner rows. She wonders why her lover Ouyang Xu doesn’t come back.
Sun Sanniang spots Zhao Paner when she washes clothes. She calls her and asks her to taste her cake. Zhao Paner thinks she doesn’t need to taste the cake. She mentions most of the customers came to her tea house for Sun Sanniang’s cakes. Sun Sanniang thinks Zhao Paner is good at talking. She tells her that she almost believed what she said if she hasn’t been her neighbor for nine years. She walks away. Zhao Paner laughs.
Zhao Paner worships the Fortune God. She wishes Ouyang Xu to pass the test. Sun Sanniang comforts Zhao Paner that Ouyang Xu’s fortune has been changed after she took care of him for three years. She believes that Ouyang Xu will pass the test.
The customer asks Zhao Paner for a cup of tea. Sun Sanniang thinks she shouldn’t challenge Ouyang Xu’s future wife. Zhao Paner mentions what she told Su Sanniang not to leak her and Ouyang Xu’s relationship. She thinks many people know her history.
Sun Sanniang comforts Zhao Paner that nobody will recognize her after Ouyang Xu takes her to East Capital. Zhao Paner tells Sun Sanniang that she planned it. She leaks that she bought land in her hometown. She believes that she will be Lady Zhao who comes from Deng State after she goes to East Capital.
Gu Qianfan visits the tea house. He sees Zhao Paner pouring tea for the customer with graceful action. Lao Jia tells Gu Qianfan that Zhao Paner is very beautiful. Gu Qianfan doesn’t think so. He tells Lao Jia that he will transfer him to East Capital after he completes the case. He believes that she will see many beauties there.
Gu Qianfan asks Lao Jia why he didn’t give the painting to him. Lao Jia explains that he couldn’t steal the painting because Yang Zhiyuan concealed the painting. The salt dealer flees to the tea house. He kidnaps Zhao Paner, asking the officer to prepare a horse for him.
Zhao Paner tells the salt dealer that she has money. So he asks her to take him to get the money. Zhao Paner calls Sun Sanniang. Sun Sanniang casts the basin to another salt dealer. Zhao Paner catches the chance to hit the salt dealer. Gu Qianfan protects Zhao Paner before the salt dealer hurts her.
Gu Qianfan helps Zhao Paner get up. She notes that he grabs her hand. She lets his hand go. The officer asks Gu Qianfan about his name. Lao Jia takes the officer away. Zhao Paner hands over the tea to Gu Qianfan. She wants to thank him for saving her life.
Gu Qianfan asks Zhao Paner if she feels regret for helping those people. She denies it. The officer returns. He doesn’t believe that Gu Qianfan is the man of imperial bodyguard department. Lao Jia shows the badge to the officer. He takes him down.
Zhao Paner pretends to spill the tea. She rejects it when he asks her to make another cup of tea for him. He tells her that he will ruin her tea house if she doesn’t make him tea. Sun Sanniang wonders why Zhao Paner provoked the man of imperial bodyguard department.
Zhao Paner reveals the men of imperial bodyguard department broke into her family fourteen years ago. She adds the sugar into the tea. She brings the tea to Lao Jia and Gu Qianfan. Gu Qianfan pours out the tea. He tells Lao Jia that the tea contains poison.
Lao Jia is furious to blame Zhao Paner for poisoning them. Zhao Paner tells Lao Jia that she didn’t drop any poison into the tea. She takes off her silver hairpin. She tells her to test it with the silver hairpin. Gu Qianfan points out that he will be vomiting and diarrhea if he eats the bean pastry and drinks the tea. Zhao Paner pretends not to know it. Gu Qianfan mentions her dance. He thinks she’s not a good woman.
A Dream of Splendor Chinese Drama: Episode 1 Ending
Zhao Paner visits Yang House. The maid tells Zhao Paner to wait in the room. He goes to inform her master Yang Zhiyuan. Gu Qianfan breaks into Yang House. Gu Qianfan’s horse startles Yang Zhiyuan. Gu Qianfan asks Yang Zhiyuan to give the painting to him. He tells him that the one he wants to catch is Wei Ying.
