In 2011, Chen Yi is in the Counseling Office in Love for You episode 1. Psychological Counselor tells Chen Yi that he can feel that it’s very hard to mention the period for him. He guesses it’s helpless and lonely time. Sometimes, painful memories are like a hazy, heavy mist. It envelops them and it makes them not move. If they have courage today, if it’s possible that they can try to approach it. They can begin with a clearest scene. He asks him not to be nervous. Because the experience is now behind him. He doesn’t have to be tormented by the past. He can go back to the normal life. He asks him to think about the person that he wants to see most.
It flashes back. The girl walks at the train station. She’s the one Chen Yi misses. She’s pretty, but she’s cold. She leaves the train station. She gets on the bus in the evening. She looks out the bus window. She says long time no see, Chen Yi.
At the Billiards Club, Chen Yi is peeling an apple. The girl walks out of the bus station. She asks the guy if he goes to Zhongshan Road. He thinks she looks like a stranger to him. But she tells him that she has seen him. He says that he would dream of her if he saw a pretty girl like her. But he thinks she looks kind of familiar since she said so. She tells him that her name is Miao Jing. He recognizes her, and he thinks she’s changed. She’s the one who walks out of the magazine. She tells him that he’s changed a lot. He says that he’s not doing very well. He asks her if she goes back to hotel or goes home. She says that she wants to go home.
The guy walks into Chen Yi’s office. He reports it to Chen Yi that the group of youngsters came to bring trouble again. He’s not sure if Fat Dragon told them to do that. Da Yong is watching them outside. A little girl is tangled by the group of people.
Chen Yi walks out of his office. He sees the guy tangling the little girl. The little girl says that her brother is going to come. Chen Yi asks another guy not to take the pool table since he doesn’t play pool. He tells Da Yong that he will pay the bill. He asks him to let those guys leave.
Chen Yi tries to return to his office. But the guy brings up that Chen Yi couldn’t stand it when the high school girl was bullied. It happened many years ago.
Da Yong closes the doors of the Billiards Club. The guy pulls out a knife when Chen Yi walks to him. He suggests that he should listen to Uncle Dragon’s words. Otherwise, he will get a lesson. Chen Yi grabs the knife. His hand is bleeding. The guy tells Chen Yi that he knows he was wrong. Chen Yi tells the guy to clean his mouth next time. The guy and his friends leave. The little girl thanks Chen Yi. She’s fine. He asks Da Yong to take her home.
The guy takes Miao Jing home by his motorcycle. He mentions he doesn’t have her number. He tells her that she can visit him anytime. Because they’re old classmates. She tries to give the cash to him. He rejects it. He thinks he can treat her a motorcycle. But she puts the money into his hand. He asks her if Chen Yi knows she came back. She ignores him. She gets in the building with her suitcase.
Miao Jing walks into the house. She turns on the light. She opens the fridge. Back to the Billiards Club, Chen Yi is dressing the wound himself in his office. President Zhang calls Chen Yi. He asks him if he’s free. He wants to play a game of pool with him. A friend visited him. He was a professional snooker player. President Zhang asks Chen Yi to hold the fort for him.
Chen Yi mentions he hasn’t played snooker for many years. President Zhang tells Chen Yi that nobody can defeat him. The girl remembers Zhang Bin is the entrepreneur in Teng City. The guy tells her that Zhang Bin and Chen Yi are close. She doesn’t understand why they have been put through so much. If the thug knew they were the people of President Zhang, he wouldn’t come to bring trouble. He tries to tell her about Chen Yi’s nickname. Chen Yi leaves the Billiards Club. He asks the assistant to tell Zhang Bin that he’s dead if Zhang Bin calls. The girl is told that Chen Yi’s nickname is Mad Dog. Chen Ji gets in his car. He starts the engine.
Miao Jing walks into her room. She opens the drawer. She remembers her mother asked her about the present she was going to give to Uncle.
It flashes back. Miao Jing gives a painting to Uncle. She tells him that it’s a present. He shows Miao Jing’s mother the painting. He thinks Miao Jing painted it well. A family of four. He tells Miao Jing that he likes the painting very much. He wants to put it in the most prominent spot.
At present, Chen Yi drives home. He opens the door and he gets in the house. Miao Jing is cooking in the kitchen. He mistakes her for his girlfriend Xu Li. He mentions what he told her not to touch his kitchen. Miao Jing walks out of the kitchen. She notices the wound on Chen Yi’s hand.
It flashes back. He tells her that everything is fake. He asks her not to show up in front of him all her life.
At present, Miao Jing tells Chen Yi that she made some soup. She asks him if he wants to drink it. He drinks the soup with her at the dining table. He asks her why she came back. She claims that she doesn’t need a reason. It’s her home. But he thinks it’s not her home. She brings up that she has lived there for ten years.
In 1997, Miao Jing and her mother are on the bus. They evade fare payment. Miao Jing tells the Ticket Inspector that she won’t affect other passengers.
Chen Yi and his friends gather outside the bus station. The guy tries to steal the good stuff from the old lady. Chen Yi hits the guy’s head. He tells him that they’re heroes. The guy complains it to Chen Yi that they have been there for one week. They didn’t rob anyone. He invites his friends to come to his house to eat. His family will cook meat. Chen Yi points out that his family has meat as well. His friends are surprised that his father is changed.
But Chen Yi says that the meat isn’t for him. The meat is for the woman who his father knew in the chat room. He won’t let the woman get in his house.
Chen Yi’s friends target Miao Jing. The guy thinks the girl is rich. He walks to her. He asks her if she got separated from her mother. He asks her if she’s alone. He claims that he’s a good person. He volunteers to help her carry things.
The guy tries to rob the bag from Miao Jing. Chen Yi stops the guy. He blames him for bullying the girl. He threatens him he will call the police if he doesn’t leave. He says that Miao Jing is his sister. The guy runs away.
Chen Yi asks Miao Jing if she’s alone. She reveals her mother went to the restroom. He asks her if the bag is heavy. He wants to help her carry it. She hands over the bag to him. He asks her how she knows he’s not a bad person. She tells him that he helped her. So he’s not a bad person. He asks her where her home is. She says that she doesn’t have a home in Teng City. Her mother will take her to the new home. He can tell that she’s easy to be tricked.
Miao Jing’s mother shows up. Chen Yi remembers he saw the woman’s photo in his father’s room. Chen Yi tells Miao Jing that she needs a lesson. He runs away with the bag.
Miao Jing’s mother takes Miao Jing to the new home. She mentions she told her that she should have let Uncle happy, and not fight the brother. Miao Jing knows she can only have a home in Teng City when she listens to her mother.
Uncle takes Miao Jing into the room. He asks her to live with the brother. She and her mother will move out after he rents a house. It’s the brother’s bed. He will set up a bed for her in the evening. He shows her the new pillows and comforters. She thanks him. He tells her that he prepared a table full of delicious food for them. All that’s missing is a bowl of Crucian Carp Porridge. He goes to cook it for them. Miao Jing’s mother leaves to help him.
Chen Yi returns home when Miao Jing eats with her new family. They know each other after Uncle introduced them to each other. Miao Jing’s mother thinks Chen Yi is very sensible. She mentions he bought fruits. She asks Miao Jing to show Uncle the present. Chen Yi is interested in the present. He asks Miao Jing what it is. Miao Jing gives the painting to Uncle. He puts it on the fridge.
Miao Jing and her mother are unpacking their stuff in the room. Miao Jing complains it to her that Chen Yi robbed their gifts and got money to buy the fruits. Her mother knows it. She tells Miao Jing that she did a great job. She thinks she’s very smart. She mentions Uncle Chen liked the present very much. They just came so that some things they should endure. After she find a job, they will settle down. Miao Jing asks her mother if she will marry Uncle Chen. But her mother thinks she meddled too much. She gives the snack to her. She knows she didn’t eat. She tells her that she will understand it after she grows up. Getting married isn’t required to be a family.
Chen Yi shows up. Miao Jing’s mother leaves the room. He threatens Miao Jing that he will beat her if she crosses the line. He doesn’t let her enjoy the wind of the Electric Fan. So she opens the window. He catches a cold.
Uncle Chen goes to the store to buy cigarettes. The store owner laughs. He reveals Chen Yi came to sold the cigarettes.
Miao Jing returns home after school. Uncle Chen is punishing Chen Yi. Miao Jing’s mother asks Miao Jing to explain it to Uncle Chen that she gave the cigarettes and wine to Chen Yi. Chen Yi mistakes that Miao Jing reported it to his father. Uncle Chen tells Chen Yi that he should face the consequences since he made the mistake. He asks him to apologize to his sister.
Chen Yi claims that he doesn’t have sisters. Miao Jing’s mother tells Uncle Chen that they don’t have to be so polite. Because they’re a family. But Chen Yi tells the madam that she and Miao Jing are just outsiders who live in his house.
Uncle Chen puts the watch on the table. He asks Chen Yi to get on his knees for one hour. He knows Miao Jing is afraid of the Statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva. He promises her that he will move it away. He tells her that it’s an apology from Chen Yi. Chen Yi claims that it’s his mother’s stuff. He tries to grab it from his father. But the statue falls on the floor. It’s broken. In the evening, Miao Jing gives the candy to Chen Yi. But he refuses to accept her candy.
The next day, Chen Yi wakes up. He discovers that the statue is missing. He goes out to look for the statue. He finds Miao Jing by the river. She’s helping him fix the statue. He pushes her into river. He’s heartless to walk away with the statue.
Miao Jing wakes up at home. She’s fine. Her mother asks her why she went to the river alone. Fortunately, someone saw her. Miao Jing tells her mother that she just wanted to look for a little wet mud to fix the statue. Chen Yi could give her a helping hand. He didn’t come to save her. She almost thought she would die in the water. She asks her mother why she has to go easy on Chen Yi.
Miao Jing’s mother apologizes to Miao Jing. She thinks she makes her feel wronged. But she needs Uncle Chen to get a job at the Power Supply Bureau. She promises her that it’s the last time. She won’t forgive the guy if he dares to bully her. Uncle Chen will come back soon. She asks her not to tell Uncle Chen what happened. She tells her that they cannot return to River City.
Chen Yi comes home. He remembers he saved Miao Jing by the river. She doesn’t know what he did. Because she passed out. He conceals the statue. Miao Jing gets in the room. Chen Yi tells her that her mother won’t be his mother. She won’t be his sister forever. He thinks she should have known it that they’re enemies when she broke the statue. She tells him that they won’t leave.
In 1999, Miao Jing visits Chen Yi at the billiards hall. But he tells his friend that he’s not close to the girl. He says that he’s short on money. Because Chen Libin needs to raise the daughter. Miao Jing gives the money to Chen Yi. She tells him that Uncle Chen asked her to give the living expenses to him. Uncle Chen asked Chen Yi to come home to pack his stuff since Chen Yi wanted to live in school. Miao Jing tells Chen Yi that Uncle Chen will pay him living expenses every month.
