Reacher goes to the hotel to meet Lila in Reacher Season 4 episode 5. But he sees the bodies that Lila killed. The cops mistake Reacher for the murder. They want to arrest him. Reacher says he didn’t do it. But the cop doesn’t believe him. He asks him to be on his knees. Reacher hits the cop, and he catches the chance to run away. The cops shoot him.
Reacher gets out of the hotel. He tries to run downstairs. But he encounters a cop. He has to return to the hotel. He hides in the trash room. He climbs into the trash channel. The cop gets in the trash room. He checks the trash channel. He doesn’t find Reacher. He walks away.
Reacher falls into the room through the trash channel. He grabs a coat. He wears it. He gets out of the house. He calls Tamara. She’s walking Russell and Jacob on the street. She tells him that she has been trying to call him for the last 20 minutes. She thought he might be dead. He says not him, but a lot of other people. Four Reds and Lila’s bodyguards, all dead in her hotel room. Cops showed while he was there. They think he did it. Barely got away.
He asks Tamara to find out who took Lila and Amisha. But she doesn’t think anyone took them. The bodies he was, their throats were slashed? Thick cuts, like they saw on the OnlyFans girl? He says yes. He thinks Reds did it. He asks her how would she know? She reveals Med Examiner said both Mary Ellen Daniels and Ben were killed with a curved blade with a wide tip called a karambit. A weapon specifically from Indonesia.
She asks him where’s his girl from? He says he got it wrong. Russell tells Reacher that Lila and Amisha came back to the room, found their guards dead and the Reds waiting for them. They sliced them and ran. They weren’t kidnapped. They gamed them the whole time.
She and Amisha hired Mary Ellen to seduce Ben, then killed her and abducted Ben. Anna never would’ve mailed that thumb drive to Lila. She was trying to keep it away from her. Reacher figures it out that Anna mailed it to someone else. Someone who’d do anything to help her, someone she trusted more than anybody. Her brother, Jacob. That drive could’ve been sitting in Jacob’s mailbox since at least this morning. Tamara and her people need to go get it.
The police show up when Reacher talks to Tamara. He runs on the street. He’s hit by a police car. He falls on the ground. The cop catches the chance to arrest him.
Jacob, Tamara and Russell are in the car. Jacob drives. Tamara tells him that she can drive. He says they’re almost there. He asks her to give him something to focus on. Russell laughs when he checks his laptop. He tells Tamara that he asked some trusted sources from the dark web if they could dig up anything on Amisha and Lila. Amisha is a ghost, but a financial hacker found something on Lila.
He discovered that, up until a few weeks ago, Lila Hoth had zero economic fingerprint. She had no mortgages, bank accounts, student loans, not even a credit score. Jacob guesses it’s because Lila and Amisha’s names are fake. Russell agrees with what Jacob said. He reveals but then, out of nowhere, a Platinum Amex card under Lila’s name with a six-figure limit shows up in the system.
A few weeks ago, she uses it to buy first-class plane tickets from Indonesia to the U.S. for Lila Hoth, Amisha Hoth, and their two bodyguards. Then, most recently, she bought a fifth ticket for a flight from Djibouti that landed here this morning. Jacob asks Russell who’s from Djibouti? Russell doesn’t know. He believes that the two girls brought the person into the U.S. to do something. Tamara thinks it’s not good.
They arrive at Jacob’s house. Jacob and Tamara get off the car. Jacob checks his mailbox. He finds the letter that Anna sent to him. He opens the letter. He gets the jump drive and Anna’s phone. The hacker sends the photo of Tomas Waberi’s passport to Russell. Jacob checks Anna’s phone. The phone is dead. His charger isn’t compatible. Tamara volunteers to buy him a new one. She asks him to get that drive into Russell’s laptop.
Jacob notices the car that’s driving toward them. Amisha shows up from the car with a machine gun. She shoots Tamara and Lila. The two hide behind the car. The car blocks the bullets. They get in the car. Tamara calls 911. She tells the policewoman that they need backup now. The policewoman comforts Tamara that they’re sending units her way.
Amisha shoots Tamara’s car when Lila drives the car to follow the car. She asks Lila not to let those guys flee. Lila says it won’t happen. Tamara shoots back with her gun. Jacob asks her to hold on. He’s gonna try something. He drives too fast. Russell worries that they’re gonna wind up in the river. Jacob says rite of passage in high school to make this turn at full speed. They all did. Lila didn’t.
Jacob makes the turn. The car drives on the bridge. Tamara mistook that the guy made the turn in high school. He says he did, and he slammed his father’s Maxima right into the bridge. Lila doesn’t make the turn. Her car crashes the bridge.
Jacob stops his car. He takes a look at Lila’s car. Her car is smoking. She climbs out of the car. Russell sees Lila. He tells Jacob and Tamara that they still got trouble. Amisha gets out of the car. She spits blood on the ground.
Jacob wants to get off his car. Tamara stops him. She reminds him that they have got the flash drive. Lila and Amisha’s car is shot. Drive away before they end up dead. He says if they run, Lila and Amisha will run as well. He wants to keep them on the bridge until backup gets here. She tells him that they got automatic weapons. He asks her to get off the car if she doesn’t like what he’s about to do.
Russell gets out of the car. He runs away. Jacob tells Tamara that she hasn’t lost what he has lost. She checks her bullets. She only got seven rounds left. She agrees to his plan. Jacob drives the car toward Lila and Amisha. They shoot the car with their machine guns. The car is shot. Jacob and Tamara get off the car. They hide behind the car. He apologizes to her.
The police arrive. Amisha asks Lila to flee with her. But Lila doesn’t want to give up. Because she knows Jacob has the drive. Amisha tells Lila that they cannot sell anything if they die. They jump into sea. Jacob wants to jump into the sea as well. Tamara stops him. She tells him that there’s a good chance Lila and Amisha are dead from the height.
At the police station, Reacher is locked in the cell. Shaun shows up with a cup of coffee. He tells Reacher that it’s not the first time Tamara’s been caught up in trouble. And the first time wasn’t her fault. Screwed by some political burn job. Now, the kid’s getting the high hard one again because of Reacher. She’s a good police. Shaun always figured, soon enough, she’d find her old gear and climb out of the hole she got kicked into drag her into this thing.
He’s worried she’ll be working with some washedup, halfinthebag cop forever. Shaun asks Reacher to explain it to him why he’s got the personal cell number of a presidential candidate. He shows him the number. He thinks it’s not fake. Because he called up and hung up. Guy who answered sounded just like the one he has seen on TV. He asks Reacher what the hell does he have Tamara tied up in? Reacher asks Shaun if he tells him, will he help him? Shaun says no. He leaves the jail.
A guy walks out of the store with a teddy. He throws the teddy into his car. Lila greets him. He turns around. Amisha catches the chance to cut his throat. They get his key. Lila throws the teddy out of the car. She and Amisha get in the car. They leave.
At the police station, Terry dresses Jacob’s wound. He leaves the office. Russell tells Jacob and Tamara that the screen is busted. They cannot read the drive on the laptop. Jacob thinks they cannot use the hardware at the police station. The less they or anyone else knows about the drive, the better. This stays between them and Reacher.
Jacob’s uncle shows up. He gives Jacob a hug. He tells him that he was in Hackensack when he got the call about the bridge. Jacob introduces his uncle Lieutenant Monty DeRosa to his friends. He keeps the Mayfield station running. Monty tells Russell that he was the partner of Jacob’s father for years. Jacob has been calling him uncle since he was a kid.
Monty asks Jacob about Ben. Jacob reveals Ben was killed. They don’t know what happened. But the two women who jumped off the bridge, they’re behind all of it. Monty tells Jacob that the two women aren’t done killing. Merle Harkavey. He was found dead. Jugular slashed over on Pleasant Avenue. A witness said they saw two soaking wet women jump in his car and drive off. Jacob realizes that they’re alive.
The CIA agent walks into Reacher’s cell. Reacher asks the guy if he fishes his gun out. The agent says no. He takes out a gun. He says he got an oldie but a goodie right here. He thinks he should have gone with Reacher in Baltimore. Now, the rules have changed. Reacher guesses real cops are gonna find him hanging dead in here. Because he couldn’t take the guilt from all those things he didn’t do.
The agent tells Reacher that he’s right. So, cry to his God. Scream for help. Nobody’s gonna hear him through the cinderblock. He loses. The agent shoots Reacher. But Reacher blocks the bullet with a pillow. He rushes to the agent, and he grabs his tie. It breaks his ear. He tells him that he will be fine. He knew a kid in Maine who was missing one. He turned out okay. Reacher drugs the agent. He gets the key from his pocket. He opens the door of the cell. He leaves the cell.
At the police station, Jacob tells Monty that they cannot bring the Feds in. He asks him to trust him. But Monty says it’s not about trust. It’s about reality. The case is too big for the Mayfield police department. Jacob tells Monty that the Feds will take over. They will box him out. But Monty says they have the resources to deal with. Jacob yells at Monty. He says it’s his family that they murdered. He’s taking these animals in, not the Feds.
They have reason to believe the Feds might be trying to cover the case up. CIA is part of it as well. He didn’t want to tell Monty. He doesn’t want him involved. Monty doesn’t understand why would the government do that? Tamara says they’re not sure. He asks her which branch of the Feds is it? Jacob says they have no idea. Monty tells Jacob that he’s too smart to hang his hat on a bunch of question marks. He doesn’t know who. He doesn’t know why. He just thinks that the Feds might be involved? That’s all he got?
Jacob agrees to call the FBI. Monty is happy with it. He goes to have breakfast. But Jacob tells Tamara and Russell that he won’t do that. He takes them into Monty’s office. He tells Monty that the FBI will be here in an hour, and they’re just gonna step outside for some air. He takes a car key before he leaves the police station.
Jacob, Russell and Tamara are in the police car. Tamara calls Reacher. He doesn’t pick up her phone. Russell guesses Reacher was killed by someone. Reacher calls Tamara back. He tells her that cops arrested him, but he got out. He’s stacking up charges. He asks her does she get the drive? Russell says they get the drive and Anna’s phone. But it’s dead, and his laptop was shot. Lila and Amisha went to Jacob’s house. They got away, but they know they have the drive.
They’re heading to Philly in Jacob’s cruiser. Stolen cruiser. Lila and Amisha are looking for them. In a car they jacked in Mayfield. Sliced a man’s throat to get it. Reacher asks Jacob is the guy alive? Jacob says Merle bled out on the street. He was a good man. Had three daughters. There’s a BOLO, but Lila will swap out cars if she hasn’t already. Russell asks Tamara where are they going? If Lila and Amisha are after them, and the Philly cops are after Reacher. And the CIA. They’re gonna get angry after what Reacher just did.
Tamara asks Reacher to stay in the city and lie low. They will meet at the corner of G Street and East Allegheny, one block east of K and A. No police stations in the area, and there’s an electronics store on the corner. So they can grab a charger and a new laptop.
Reacher asks Tamara how far out are they? She says they will in there in 70 minutes. Jacob asks Tamara to make it 90. The sliders should be getting to the station soon. Monty will come looking for them, see that they took off and put out an alert. They gotta ditch the cruiser.
Jacob drives the cruiser to Cyrus’s place. Tamara asks Cyrus about the cat. He complains it to her that the cat tore up his sister’s BarcaLounger. Now she says he got to get her a new one. So, if they all came to give him a puppy, get gone. She says not pets this time. They need a ride. He says they got a ride. She says that’s staying here. He tells her that she cannot leave a cop car at his spot. She says park it out back and throw a tarp over it.
Or she could just seize everything in here that doesn’t have a bill of sale. Down to the last hubcap. He asks her why she always trying to reach into his pocket.
Reacher waits for Tamara, Jacob and Russell at the hotel. The three get off the new car. Tamara tells Reacher that she got it from an old friend. She asks him how he got out of Philly PD custody?
He takes his people to the suite. He pays the staff some cash. He gets the suite. Russell checks his new laptop. He sees a photo. Reacher recognizes Sampson, Cahill and General Putra. Anna’s phone is charged. Reacher doesn’t understand why everyone wants to get the drive. Jacob tells Reacher that he found Anna’s last text chain. It was with a blocked number. Reacher guesses that’s got to be Lila.
Jacob reveals Lila sent Anna an address in Philly the night she died. Reacher asks Jacob where they were supposed to meet. That’s where they’re headed to next. Jacob shows Russell the address. 190 East. Russell searches the address. He gets a photo of a building. First floor is an abandoned restaurant. Looks like it’s under some kind of renovation.
Jacob says Lila sent a video. He plays the video. Lila cuts Mary. She lets Ben watch it. Ben tells Anna that they’re cutting her up. They say he’s next if she doesn’t do what they say. There’s another video. Jacob tries to play it. But Tamara grabs the phone. She tells him that he shouldn’t see what he cannot unsee. He goes to the balcony. Russell tells Tamara that Jacob shouldn’t be out there alone. But she thinks the guy won’t jump. He says he thinks someone should be with Jacob.
Tamara throws the phone to Russell. She joins Jacob on the balcony. He tells her that he’s gonna hurt Lila and Amisha like they hurt his family. He will take their knives and dig them into their guts. Slaughter them like the animals they are. She tells him that she doesn’t know him very well, but he knows that’s not who he is. That’s not the person Anna and Ben loved. He says that person is as dead as they are. She holds his hand. She tells him that she won’t let him spin out.
Reacher calls Sampson when Sampson is watching the news about Reacher. Sampson tells Reacher that he’s all over the news, so this better be good. Reacher asks Sampson why are people dying over a photo of him, Cahill and Putra from over 25 years ago? Sampson learns that Reacher found the drive. There’s only a photo in the drive. Reacher thinks it’s nothing worth killing over. Sampson believes that it’s got to be blackmail. Evidence of collaboration with Putra would be a blow to his campaign.
Reacher doesn’t think so. Sampson doesn’t know what’s special about the photograph. Reacher guesses maybe the other guy in the photo does. Russell sends the photo to Sampson. Sampson checks the photo. He says the guy isn’t Delta. He was just a scientist doing malaria research down there. Sampson didn’t have anything to do with the scientists. That was Cahill’s assignment. He spent all his time working with Putra’s men. He doesn’t remember what the guy did in that room. Because it was 25 years ago.
The police arrive at the hotel. Reacher realizes that they should go to the restaurant where Anna talked about. They need to split into two groups. He asks Jacob to take Russell to the library. Use the public internet to find the scientist in that photo. But Jacob wants to go to the restaurant. It’s where his sister was headed when she died.
Tamara agrees with what Reacher said. She reminds Jacob that Russell is a civilian who needs protection, and he’s a cop. She asks Jacob and Russell to get out of here. Take the back stairwell. Reacher plans to get arrested again.
The doors of the elevator open. The cops point their guns at Reacher. But Reacher has already been handcuffed. Tamara shows her badge. She says she got the guy. She and Reacher flee in such a way. But the hotel staff tells the cop that Tamara and Reacher are accomplices. The police follow Tamara and Reacher’s car. The car is blocked by a truck.
Reacher and Tamara get out of the car. They run onto the roof of the hotel. He says they’re gonna rappel. He says he learned how to do it in the Army. Two people, one harness. The lines can hold their weight. She just needs to get on his back. Warp her legs around him. She says she falls, she dies.
They jump off the roof. There’s a mistake while they do the job. Tamara falls on the glass roof. The glass roof is going to be broken after her body hit it. Reacher teaches her to spread her body weight out. He catches her hand. But the policewoman aims at them. Reacher falls on the floor with Tamara. He takes her to run out of the hotel when the police shoot them.

They get on a bus. But Reacher is recognized by a girl on the bus. He takes Tamara to get out of the bus. They run away, and they hide under a bridge when they’re chased by the two cops. They arrive at the restaurant. Reacher breaks the door of the restaurant. He and Tamara get in the restaurant. They see Ben’s blood on the floor. Fully desiccated. Probably been here a few days. He was held here. This is where he was killed. They underestimated the strength of a Division I athlete full of fear induced adrenaline. He broke a restraint. Unlatched the rest. Ran for the door. They barely got him in time. Slit his throat before he could escape. Let him bleed out before they got rid of the body.
Lila shows up. She says Ben gave her no choice. He asks Reacher for the drive. He refuses to do that. Because it’s Tamara’s gun against Lila’s knife. Lila says she has leverage. Jacob shows up. He’s kidnapped by Amisha. Jacob apologizes to Reacher and Tamara. He thinks he should have listened.
