Eun-Tae gives Eun-Seok’s wife an envelope of cash. He knows A-Yeong’s tutoring fees are expensive. He wants to help her. But she says he has a lot of expenses in Seoul. They don’t need to pay rent, and they have jobs. He points out that A-Yeong is his niece. She says they will use the money well. She thanks him for his caring. He asks her how is his brother doing? She thinks the guy must be doing very well. He works the night shift. So they rarely saw each other.
She cares for him. He used to be very successful, but he looks very downcast now. Back in the day, Gong Eun-Seok was a byword for the fashion world in Busan. Eun-Tae reveals Eun-Seok bought him beef after he became successful. It was the first that Eun-Tae ate beef. He didn’t expect it was so delicious. Because of his brother, he wants to eat beef when something good happens to him. Eun-Seok’s wife knows the beef restaurant. Because Eun-Seok got her there.
When someone mentions beef, she gets goosebumps. Eun-Tae confesses it to her that Eun-Seok asked him for some money yesterday. She feels sorry. He says he mentioned it not to say it. Eun-Seok said he wanted to start a business. But he told him that he couldn’t give the money to him. He thinks that won’t work out. But maybe he was wrong. His business might just be a success. He wants to try his best to help him. He wishes she can accept the money. He persuades her not to hate his brother too much. Although he looks down a little on his luck, he still thinks he’s a great person. She’s moved. She thinks her husband is a lucky person. Eun-Tae tells her that she’s very cool. Because she didn’t give up Eun-Seok. She’s very happy.
Eun-Tae takes the train to return to Seoul. He gets a call from Seon-Hyuk. They have a meeting at a restaurant. Seon-Hyuk asks Eun-Tae how long does he plan to stay at Hongsung? Eun-Tae says he didn’t think about it. Seon-Hyuk persuades Eun-Tae to consider it. Eun-Tae reminds Seon-Hyuk that he has rejected him. Seon-Hyuk says they merged with another company. He’s not president anymore.
Eun-Tae learns that Seon-Hyuk joined a larger company. Seon-Hyuk hands over his business card to Eun-Tae. Eun-Tae takes a look at the business. Seon-Hyuk is the manager of CGM in Korea. CGM plans to get in Korea Market. Small and Medium-Sized Brand Agents will disappear. Hongsung can only hang in there for three years. But revenue will drop by one-third.
As a brand director, the annual salary is 100,000 dollars. Seon-Hyuk thinks it’s enough to make Eun-Tae begin to consider it. But Eun-Tae drops the business card. Seon-Hyuk asks Eun-Tae for his reason. He says CGM is the best brand agent in the United States. Compared to them, Hongsung is just a small shop. If Eun-Tae continues to stay there, he can only retire early.
Eun-Tae says he should suspect it if he’s asked to take more. Seon-Hyuk asks Eun-Tae doesn’t he think his value is underrated? Eun-Tae says some people’s salaries may be higher than their true worth. Seon-Hyuk gets Eun-Tae’s point. But he tells him that he will regret the decision he makes. Eun-Tae tells Seon-Hyuk that he shouldn’t do it. Seon-Hyuk asks Eun-Tae does he think he helped him? He thinks that was humiliating. Eun-Tae asks Seon-Hyuk does he want to take revenge for the humiliating?
Seon-Hyuk denies it. He says he’s just doing his job. CGM contacted him. They wanted to look for someone to be the manager of South Korea Branch. He just happened to meet the requirements. Who cares the little revenge?
In the evening, Eun-Tae takes the cab to the temple. He tries to tell something to Kyung-Chul. It startles him. Kyung-Chul asks Eun-Tae how did he find him? Eun-Tae reveals he called Kyung-Chul, but Kyung-Chul didn’t pick up his phone. So he called his home.
Eun-Tae tells Kyung-Chul that CGM acquired Seon-Hyuk’s company. They plan to enter Korea. Seon-Hyuk is the manager of their Korea Branch. Kyung-Chul thinks Eun-Tae should have said it early. He asks him does he know what’s more important?
The next day at Hongsung, Hyun-Sook has morning meeting with the team leaders. She thinks Seon-Hyuk must be over the moon. Since the cover has come out, it means that they have talked to the brands and the department stores. She asks Kyung-Chul does he get the brand list that CGM is going to introduce? He says there’re 300 global brands, there are also some domestic brands. Hyun-Sik says they set the table for the banquet, and they invite retail channels to come to enjoy it.
Kyung-Chul reports to Hyun-Sook that CGM sacrificed profit margins. They want to get rid of all brand agents in Korea. Malls and Shopping Centers will gain the upper hand if they kill each other. Once the weak are eliminated, CGM will take half the market. Kyung-Chul says their intention is to achieve a complete monopoly.
Team Leader Son reports it to Hyun-Sook that Paradis Department Store wants to change Ailey’s contract. They want to pay liquidated damages if Hongsung doesn’t renew the contract. Jung-Hyun mentions Paradis begged them to arrange some shops when it opened.
Hyun-Sook realizes that they should go to beg Paradis. He asks Kyung-Chul to list the retail stores and brands with issues. She wants to see the preliminary report before she gets off work. She asks Eun-Tae to discuss it with Legal Team. Comparing the size of liquidated damages and sales forecast. He should report it to her then. He should do it, otherwise he will feel guilty.
Eun-Tae gets in Hae-Joo’s office. He thinks Hae-Joo should have eaten well. She guesses he’s going to go to report the amount of the liquidated damages. She asks him to go back to wait. She needs to review a lot of brands. She gives the grain bar to him. She guesses he didn’t eat as well. It’s more convenient than having a meal. He tastes the bar. He tells her that it’s delicious. She offers to go to have a talk outside. He mentions she’s very busy. She thinks he shouldn’t have come since he knows it.
Outside the cafe, Eun-Tae and Hae-Joo have a meeting. She tells him that In-Mok doesn’t like him. He said he always brings trouble. Eun-Tae asks Hae-Joo when will he know the total liquidated damages? She says she doesn’t know. Because they need to weight the time for the lawsuit, and the money they’re going to get. He knows she works very hard, and she’s feeling down. But they have to work. He needs the schedule so that he can prepare for it. If all the brands that GCM controls want to break off the contracts. The total is 280 billion won. He asks her to give him a rough estimate before he gets off work.
He will report it first. Then he will continue to follow up. She says if she’s other party’s legal counsel, he won’t let them obediently pay up. She will try her best to bring trouble. Let both sides be at fault. The mall has enough ability to find ways to treat the breaking off as a case of mutual fault. If they pay, the money must have been given by GCM.
On the roof, Sun-A meets Jung-Hyun. She asks him did Seon-Hyuk dig him? He denies. She admits it to him that the guy dug her. He gets angry, and he thinks Seon-Hyuk is a jerk. He wouldn’t accept it if he was her. But Seon-Hyuk didn’t mention it, it makes him unhappy.
Sun-A tells Jung-Hyun that she decides to accept it. Seon-Hyuk asked her to take him. She thinks there’s no hope for the company anymore. He wonders if he needs to resign right now. She asks him not to resign. He can stay here to be their mole.
Jun-Ho goes to the department store when Gi-Tae is carrying the goods. He figures those guys asked Gi-Tae to do that. He breaks into the office. He wants to see Team Leader Kang. Team Leader Kang shows up. Jun-Ho asks Team Leader Kang did he get Gi-Tae to move the boxes. Team Leader Kang says Gi-Tae did it on his own. Jun-Ho asks Team Leader Kang is he messing with them because of Ailey’s contract? Team Leader Kang says move a few boxes cannot resolve the problem of the contract.
Jun-Ho asks Gi-Tae to explain what happened. Gi-Tae reveals Team Leader Kang said he would consider renewal. He asked him to help him carry boxes. But the guy disappeared after he moved some boxes. The guy admits it. He claims that he didn’t intend to do that. Jun-Ho asks Team Leader Kang if he wants to deny it. He has a fight with him.
At the parking lot, Jun-Ho asks Gi-Tae why did he listen to the jerk? He lets him drive the car. Hyang-Eun and Ji-Hye meet Yu-Jin who works for INA Department Store. Yu-Jin tells the two that they want to increase 4 percent. They give GCM the same profit margin. Hyang-Eun thinks it means INA asks them to delist. Yu-Jin says they plan to pay a liquidated damages. Hyang-Eun wants to talk with the team leader. But Yu-Jin tells Hyang-Eun that the team leader sent her here. She mentions Hongsung didn’t send the team leader.
In the evening, Eun-Tae has dinner with Jun-Ho and Gi-Tae at a restaurant. Eun-Tae thinks Jun-Ho did a good job. But Jun-Ho knows he shouldn’t have been angry. Hyang-Eun and Ji-Hye show up. Hyang-Eun thinks Jun-Ho worked hard. She heard that he scolded Team Leader Kang. She reports it to Eun-Tae that INA asks for 20 percent. Jun-Ho is surprised that GCM accepted those conditions. They still make a profit this way? Hyang-Eun suspects it as well. They will lose money. Ji-Hye takes a look at the design that Laknes sent to her. She sends it to other colleagues. They realize that it’s very important to sell it well in China. They run out of the restaurant.
The next day at Hongsung, Kyung-Chul reveals Sun-A resigned in the team leader meeting. There were five people resigning at the company. He thinks nobody can stop them from chasing a better treatment. He offers to ignore the people who left. They have things to do. He asks the team leaders not to be weak when they face department stores. Jung-Hyun reminds Kyung-Chul that they will lose half of the brands if they don’t try to convince them to stay. Kyung-Chul asks Jung-Hyun does he want them to beg those guys? Doesn’t that make it look even worse?
Hyun-Sook thinks they shouldn’t blame the department stores. Because the stores need to earn money. If someone gives her a better condition, she will leave the company as well. Does he think they’re good friends after they shake hands and have some meals together? The world runs depending on hypocrisy. It’s just that right now. That hypocrisy appears even more glaring. Things are going to be pretty tough for a while. But their company won’t go out of business because of it. Show some confidence.
Since they’re going to delist, she asks Kyung-Chul to return the merchandise to the shopping mall. Jung-Hyun asks Hyun-Sook does it mean they give up on inventory management. She says they cannot control over the inventory. They should find a way to get the liquidated damages. She takes a look at Eun-Tae.
It flashes back. Hyun-Sook is driving on the street. She gets a call from Eun-Tae. She returns to the office. He tells her that CGM enters Korea market because of tariffs. If CGM sends goods to China from Korea, they can avoid tariffs. Kyung-Chul doesn’t understand why CGM wants to go that far. Hyang-Eun reveals there’s a rumor in Shenzhen that Shenzhen Duty-Free Zone will restrict the registration of new companies next year. There are only three months left. CGM must complete the registrations in Korea and China before that. Establish a Logistics Center, and complete the first shipment. And generate actual sales. So Shenzhen will provide Tariff Exemption.
Eun-Tae thinks they will win as long as they stall for time. Kyung-Chul agrees with what Eun-Tae said. If they competes against CGM, increase profit margins while they pretend to fight back. CGM won’t hang in there. If they cannot get in China market, they don’t have to shoulder such a high profit margin in Korea.
Eun-Tae says they have another choice, other than stalling for time. They take back the liquidated damages first. After they get the liquidated damages, Hongsung will enter China market before CGM. Kyung-Chul points out that they have entered China market. But they only sell Korea brands. Eun-Tae suggests that they should introduce foreign brands to China. They pick up the brands that CGM is afraid of. Kyung-Chul wonders does it work? He doesn’t believe that Global Brands will abandon CGM and choose them. Eun-Tae knows they’re not CGM’s rival. But they can work with Mantova.
Jun-Ho says although CGM is very strong in the United States. But Mantova has European Brands that sell worldwide. But they only do wholesale. Will they consider retail? Jun-Ho thinks they win as long as they bring Mantova to China. Hyun-Sook says they win as well as long as they can get liquidated damages. Those guys who betrayed them will have no choice. They have to renew with them. Eun-Tae agrees with what she said. They can get more favorable terms. She asks him to convince Sponzo. It’s their only hope.
