The Ordinary Jackpot Episode 9

Martina claims that she’s an Italian. She hasn’t returned to Korea for a while. He doesn’t have to pick her up. They can meet at Hongsung. It will make her see through his intention if he works hard to pick up her. She asks him does he want to talk about a tricky topic? She offers to leave together. She wants to know why he made this trip.

In the office, Hyang-Eun tells Jun-Ho that Mantova’s ownership is complicated, and they are all sole proprietorships. There is absolutely no financial information available. Jun-Ho asks Ji-Hye did she look into Martina? She says she cannot get any information about Martina. He thinks it’s impossible. Does she devote her life to Mantova?

At the cafe, Cafe Owner Oh gives the coffee to Gi-Tae. Gi-Tae runs out of the cafe. In the meeting room, Eun-Tae and Jun-Ho meet Martina. She reads the papers. She thinks China market is a good idea. But she thinks they wouldn’t take such a huge risk for this kind of profit. Jun-Ho reveals CGM entered Korea. She thinks he should have said it first. She asks him did CGM come with the identity of supplier? He says they established a branch office here. They want to be a brand agent.

Although their goal isn’t just Korea market, they will turn Korea into Logistics Center. Enter China from here to avoid tariffs. Martina learns that Hongsung wants to use Mantova to enter China before CGM. Jun-Ho says if Mantova enters China before CGM, CGM will not be able to use capital to put pressure on the Korea market.

Martina notices the coffee on the table. She asks Eun-Tae does their company has a cafe? He says they have a coffee machine. But the temperature is always not right. The coffee comes from the cafe where he likes most. She asks him does he know coffee reflects the soul of the barista? She tastes the coffee. She says the guy opens the cafe not to earn money. He made the coffee not for someone. She laughs. She tells Eun-Tae that she doesn’t want to go against CGM.

Their methods are dirty. He asks her does she not mind that CGM controls China market? She mentions the Bible. It says there’s a worker who’s hired in the morning. Another worker is hired in the evening. The boss pays them the same salary. There are bound to be people who complain. It’s clear that one of them has been working longer. But the salary is the same. The person who has been working since early morning complains. The boss asks him why does he complain? He paid the money he promised.

Martina mentions they do the job that they promised, and they get good payments. CGM enters which market. How much money they earn. It’s all not their business. Eun-Tae asks her doesn’t she mind the worker who came in the evening? He takes the salary that belongs to the worker who works in the morning. Seventy percent of Mantova’s clients are from East Asia. Most of their products will flow into China in the end. If CGM sets up a warehouse in China, the people in Guangzhou and other areas won’t do business with Mantova.

Once CGM enters China, Mantova will not only lose China market, it will lose the whole East Asia. Martina tells Eun-Tae that the proportion of retail sales in their business isn’t enough to make them fight CGM. He tells her that the war has begun. He asks Mantova to join the battlefield. She needs some time to think about it. They will give her the time. But he wants to know how long it will take. She says she will make the decision before she leaves Korea. She asks him to arrange someone to show her around. Jun-Ho wants to do the job. But Martina rejects it. She asks for the youngest member in their team. If they will work together in the end, she will mainly deal with the rookie in the future. It will be a long-term partnership. At that time, Eun-Tae and Jun-Ho will directors.

Jun-Ho returns to the office. He tells Ji-Hye that he wants her to be in charge of communication and coordination. He will explain it later. She goes to apply for a car and a driver. Gi-Tae asks Jun-Ho about Eun-Tae. Jun-Ho complains that Martina couldn’t communicate. He couldn’t see through what she was thinking.

At CGM, Sun-A gets in Seon-Hyuk’s office. She reports something to Seon-Hyuk. Seon-Hyuk calls Soon-Wook. Soon-Wook guesses Seon-Hyuk called him for the store. Seon-Hyuk asks Soon-Wook why did he increase the commission rate? Soon-Wook says he just heard the case. It’s the company’s plans. Seon-Hyuk reminds Soon-Wook that he loses Hongsung’s 20 percent commission after Hongsung delisted. He should let them pay 20 percent as well. They cannot pay 22 percent.

Soon-Wook points out that Seon-Hyuk promised to pay 22 percent as long as Hongsung paid 20 percent. Seon-Hyuk agrees with what Soon-Wook said. But the prerequisite is that Hongsung pays 20 percent. Soon-Wook asks Seon-Hyuk to treat it as Hongsung paid. They broke up with the steady partner Hongsung to join forces with them.

Business may seem complicated, but it’s actually very simple. They only want the things that they think they can get. If Seon-Hyuk cannot do it, he can reject. Soon-Wook asks Seon-Hyuk not to regret it in the future. Seon-Hyuk agrees to pay 22 percent. He will be grateful if Soon-Wook can freeze other types of commissions. Soon-Wook rejects it. He thinks they should treat everyone equally.

Seon-Hyuk is furious to tell Sun-A that Soon-Wook is a jerk. They should know the tricks of Hongsung. She thinks those guys will delay the time with the liquidated damages. But he doesn’t think so. Hongsung won’t let it go. In the situation, if they’re attacked by Hongsung, they will close the company. He asks her to go to look into what Hongsung is doing.

As long as Paris and London held fashion shows, the next day Ji-Hye could find a similar style here. The clothes that didn’t sell after three days would be destroyed. Although it’s not popular like before, she can find the world’s most popular item. Martina wants to know the reason that makes Ji-Hye come to buy clothes, expect price. Ji-Hye says she loved fashion here. This is why she works for Hongsung.

Martina asks Ji-Hye does she know it’s not the same even if the clothes have the same design? Details are the key. Ji-Hye tells Martina that there’re a lot of good things here. A lot of brands would come to the place to purchase for resale. Martina figures this is why Ji-Hye chooses to buy these. Ji-Hye asks Martina doesn’t she like her clothes? Martina tells Ji-Hye that a clothing salesperson must know clothing well.

Because the wine list here is extensive. She thinks no matter what kind of food it is, it should be paired with wine. Since they’re going to drink wine, they should go to the place with premium Italian Wines.

They should eat something that they cannot eat in Italian. Considering that Martina hadn’t returned to Korea for a long time. Ji-Hye thinks modern Korean food is better than traditional food. But Martina says that a food can reflect a person’s inner self. Ji-Hye is either a genius con artist or a vain person. She knows how much money she earns. She’s wearing clothes worth 30 euros. But she said she drank this kind of wine. There are only two possibilities. She has never even tasted this kind of wine. Otherwise she spends more than she earns. Whichever one it is. She cannot be trusted.

Ji-Hye walks out of the restaurant. She calls Eun-Tae. She complains it to him that Martina is crazy. She seems to find fault with everything. She asks him how much should she put up with? He reminds her that they need Mantova very much. But she shouldn’t do whatever Martina wants. If they lose Mantova, they will find another way out. No matter how anxious she is. They cannot do business with the person who thinks she can control them. Even if it’s unfair, Martina should pretend it’s fair. And show basic respect. If she cannot go through the motions, they cannot work with her. Don’t accept unreasonable requests. She understands it, and she will contact him.

Ji-Hye and Martina are on the way to the hotel. Ji-Hye asks Martina is there anything else she needs? Martina thinks Ji-Hye shouldn’t ask her the question.
