Doctor on The Edge: Episode 2 Recap

On the beach, Ji-Ui tries to kiss his girlfriend Hwa-Yeong in Doctor on The Edge episode 2. At present, Ha-Ri puts a pair of headphones on Ji-Ui’s head to calm him down. He tries to take off the headphones. But she asks him to listen to the music. She tells him that music can relieve anxiety. But he points out that the battery is dead. She hands over a chewing gum to him. She tells him that chewing can help him relax as well.

Ji-Ui says that he’s fine. He returns to chewing gum to Ha-Ri. But she knows he’s not fine. She mentions he cried yesterday. He kept calling someone when she carried him. But he reminds her that he didn’t ask her to help him. He feels sorry for letting her help him yesterday. He asks her to take care of herself, not crossing the line. He walks away.

Ji-Ui calls his senior. He asks him for the prescription. Because he needs to go to take a ferry. He goes to the hospital. In the evening, Shin-Hye complains it to Jeong-Seon that Ji-Ui didn’t come back. Jeong-Seon guesses the doctor was daydreaming. She mentions there will be a rookie coming next week. She plans to take care of the girl. But Shin-Hye tells Jeong-Seon that the girl isn’t a typical rookie. Jeong-Seon says that she’s going to help the rookie. She has already organized the documents.

Ji-Ui arrives. Shin-Hye tries to scold him. But she notices that he looks pale. He reveals he fell asleep on the ferry. He returns to his room. He takes out the chewing gum that Ha-Ri gave him. He puts the chewing gum into the drawer.

The next day, Jang-Su gives the Platycodon root to Ji-Ui. Because Ji-Ui saved the village head last week. Jang-Su coughs. He asks Ji-Ui to give a month’s supply of medication to him. He says that he and his wife are taking the medication together. But Ji-Ui refuses to give the medication to Jang-Su. It’s pick up a prescription. He reminds him that it will develop into pneumonia if he coughs more than two weeks. He will prescribe him a three-day supply of medication. He needs to come back for a follow-up visit after he takes the medicine.

Jang-Su complains it to Ji-Ui that he needs to take care of the fish. He doesn’t have time to see a doctor. Ji-Ui says that he can only make the right decision when Jang-Su does so. Ji-Ui only prescribes Jang-Su a three-day supply of medicine. Shin-Hye explains it to Jang-Su that they can only prepare the medicine according to the doctor’s prescription.

Shin-Hye has lunch with Ji-Ui. She reveals Jang-Su went to file a complaint against them. She persuades him to be more tolerant. She thinks they should comply with Jang-Su’s request. It’s good for everyone. But he thinks it’s not good for everyone. Chi-Yeon takes Ji-Ui’s side. Shin-Hye yells at the doctor. She tells them that she does it for them. They will get into trouble if they continue to do as they please.

Chun-Sik shows up with the present. Shin-Hye is surprised that he was discharged from the hospital. He praises Ji-Ui for saving his life. Shin-Hye discovers that the present is fish liver. It’s very precious. Chun-Sik shakes hands with Ji-Ui. He promises him that he will repay him after he recovers.

Ju-Cheon tells Ji-Ui that he loves him after Chun-Sik left. He thinks he won the village chief’s heart. His quality of life will skyrocket as long as he and the village chief are on the same side. The village chief bought Ju-Cheon a pizza. Because he liked his treatment. Ju-Cheon believes that the village chief will be nice to Ji-Ui.

Ju-Cheon opens the box in his office. He notices that her slippers are just like his. He guesses she paid additional fees. He looks at her legs. She feels uncomfortable. He says that it’s interesting. He finds out that they have similar tastes. She disagrees. She’s furious to return to her seat. She throws the slippers into the trash can. She tells herself that she doesn’t like the guy.

In the evening, Ji-Ui sleeps in the bed. He’s hungry. He goes to the convenience store to buy beer. But all beers are taken away by Ha-Ri. He chases her out of the store. He asks her if she drinks beer every day. She reminds him that he crossed the line. He tells her that it’s bad for her health. She knows he wants to get beer from her. She tells him that he seems suspicious. She mentions she kept encountering him. She guesses he’s a stalker. He talks back that she always loves to meddle. He was the first one who boarded the ferry. He was also the first one who reached the island. He steps on something. He falls. She catches him with one hand. She thinks she crossed the line. She lets him fall on the ground.

The next day, Ha-Ri visits Ji-Ui in the hospital. He learns that she’s a nurse. Shin-Hye reveals Ha-Ri is an intellectual. She worked at the Emergency Department at the University Hospital. Operating Room is her living room for her. She knows the island very well. Ju-Cheon realizes that Ha-Ri can help him get along with the villagers. Shin-Hye tells Ha-Ri that Ji-Ui was the doctor who she carried back. She guesses the two have greeted each other. But Ha-Ri says that she doesn’t want to cross the line.

Jeong-Seon asks Ha-Ri why she came to the island from the University Hospital. She thinks there’s a story behind it. Ha-Ri explains that she wanted to take a break. Jeong-Seon tells Ha-Ri that it’s a battlefield even if the works seems to be going smoothly. It’s not a place where she can take a break. Ha-Ri is happy to tell Jeong-Seon that she understands it. She expects her guidance. Jeong-Seon asks Ha-Ri to go to change the toilet paper in the restroom.

Ji-Ui returns to his office. He notices that Ha-Ri carrying a pack of tissues. Shin-Hye breaks into the office. She tells Ji-Ui that he needs to go to look for the cancer patient. He says that he’s not familiar with the roads around there. She comforts him that she will get someone to accompany him. She catches Ha-Ri when Ha-Ri passes by. The problem is resolved.

Ha-Ri takes Ji-Ui on a boat ride. The captain tells them that the cancer patient Jeong-Bae doesn’t want someone to enter his house. Ha-Ri learns that the patient is like Ji-Ui. She wants to set off right away. But Ji-Ui thinks there’s another way. The captain tells the doctor that there’s a way. But he needs to spend 40 minutes to reach the place. The captain thinks nobody will be stupid enough to do such a thing. Ji-Ui decides to walk to the patient’s house. He asks Ha-Ri to take the boat.

Ji-Ui is looking for the patient’s house in the mountains. Ha-Ri shows up. She doesn’t understand why he wanted to take a walk. He points out that he didn’t ask her to walk with him. She says that she can do nothing without the doctor’s escort. She complains it to him that he kept making her worry about him even if he asked her not to cross the line.

A spider sits on Ji-Ui’s shoulder. He asks her to help him. But she says that she needs to be cautious. She learns one thing because of him. No matter how difficult other people’s situations are, it’s crossing the line if they don’t ask for help. He asks her to cross the line. She hugs him and catches the spider. He thinks she should lock the spider up. He mentions what she said that it was poisonous. She tells him that those guys won’t bite as long as they don’t offend them. He owes her a favor. He needs to pay it in the future.

Ji-Ui and Ha-Ri arrive at the patient’s house. Ha-Ri calls the patient. But he doesn’t answer her. She tries to get into the house. Ji-Ui tells her that it’s not a good idea. But she says that they need to do it thoroughly if they want to cross the line.

Jeong-Bae scolds Ji-Ui and Ha-Ri after he saw the two in the house. Ji-Ui explains it to the patient that they came because his daughter called them. Jeong-Bae asks the two to get lost. Ha-Ri notices that the guy is smoking. She tells him that she feels sad for his daughter. The girl couldn’t sleep because she worried about her father. But he doesn’t care for his life at all. She asks him why he went to have surgery since he wants to do that. She will contact his daughter. His daughter needs to know her father’s condition. That way, she can decides if she should abandon her father.

Jeong-Bae takes an axe. He threatens Ha-Ri that he will kill her if she leaks any words to his daughter. Ji-Ui takes Ha-Ri out of the house. He reminds her that she provoked the patient when she talked about smoking with him. She explains it to him that she did it because she was very angry.

In the evening, Ji-Ui and Ha-Ri walk in the mountains. She tells him that the old man has a chance to live. She doesn’t understand why Jeong-Bae wants to ruin his second chance at life. Not everyone has the second chance. Some people fought for their lives. But they couldn’t avoid the deaths. If she’s the old man, she would only strive to live and look at beautiful things. Ji-Ui remembers the cancer drugs he saw at Ha-Ri’s house. He tells her that there’s a way. He thinks it’s too early to give up.

She doesn’t know what to do. Because the sun has set. She tells him that they got lost. They cannot find the way. She offers to search separately. But he insists on staying with her. She asks him if he’s scared. They see Chi-Yeon who rides a motorcycle. Ji-Ui feels relieved. But Chi-Yeon only gives Ha-Ri a ride. He rides the motorcycle away. Ji-Ui is furious to tell Chi-Yeon that he’s very scared.

Ha-Ri worries about Ji-Ui. Chi-Yeon tells her that the guy isn’t a kid. He asks her to grab it. She hugs him. He tells her what he means is the handles. He thinks she likes to misunderstand someone. He asks her if she remembers him.

It flashes back. Chi-Yeon stops Ha-Ri on the street. He tries to hand over the cell phone to her. She tells him that she already has a boyfriend.

At present, Chi-Yeon and Ha-Ri arrive at the restaurant. He tells her that he will tell it to her as long as she buys him a meal. They get in the restaurant. Ji-Ui is waiting for them. Ha-Ri is surprised that the guy was so fast. He thanks the two. He tells them that he was almost dead.

Jang-Su shows up. He invites Ji-Ui to take part in the drinking game to decide who’s the boss. Ji-Ui accepts the challenge since it’s the rule of the island. He drinks with Jang-Su. He wins. Jang-Su is furious to hit the mirror with his fist. His hand is bleeding.

Ji-Ui cleans Jang-Su’s wound. He decides to get him a stitch. Chi-Yeon goes against it. Because Ji-Ui just drank. He offers to send Jang-Su to hospital tomorrow. But Ha-Ri knows Jang-Su won’t go to hospital. He won’t miss the chance to catch the fish. Ji-Ui tells Chi-Yeon that he will take the duty. Chi-Yeon leaves the room.

The next day, Ji-Ui gets Jang-Su a stitch. Ha-Ri asks Ji-Ui if he doesn’t like the patient. The patient gave him a hard time. He admits that he doesn’t like the patient. But wound is wound.

Jang-Su walks out of the treatment room. He asks the people what happened to his hand. Ji-Ui tells the patient that he was drunk. But Jang-Su refuses to admit that he was drunk. He complains that his hand cannot cast net. He won’t let it go. He will sue Ji-Ui. Chun-Sik shows up. He scolds Jang-Su. He gives the fish soup to Ji-Ui. He takes Jang-Su away.

In Ji-Ui’s office, Ha-Ri guesses Jang-Su did so because he was embarrassed. She mentions the guy lost to Ji-Ui. Ji-Ui thinks Jang-Su couldn’t resolve the problem even if he threw a fit to him. But it can hide Jang-Su’s embarrassment. Ji-Ui wonders what Jeong-Bae wanted to hide.

Ji-Ui and Ha-Ri visit Jeong-Bae. Ji-Ui wants to see Jeong-Bae’s foot. Jeong-Bae is furious to throw the pot at Ha-Ri. Her leg is hurt. Ji-Ui takes off Jeong-Bae’s sock. He sees the leg. He asks him if he knows he has diabetes. Jeong-Bae claims that it’s just bruise. Ji-Ui tells the patient that he will lose his foot if he doesn’t go to hospital. Jeong-Bae says that he will take care of it. He asks Ji-Ui and Ha-Ri not to tell it to his daughter. But Ji-Ui cannot pretend not to see it.

Ji-Ui and Ha-Ri leave Jeong-Bae’s house. Ji-Ui decides to tell it to the patient’s daughter. But Ha-Ri returns to the house. She gets on her knees to Jeong-Bae. Ji-Ui and Ha-Ri return to the hospital. She asks him if he wants to eat some noodles.

They eat the noodles together. She asks him why he cooked the noodles since it was her suggestion. He says that he’s paying off debt. She realizes what he means is the spider. She tells him that he’s dreaming. She wants to eat a hearty meal in the future. He reminds her that he has cooked for her.

Jeong-Bae visits. He asks Ji-Ui to save him. He wants to live. Ji-Ui treats Jeong-Bae’s foot in the treatment room. Ha-Ri goes to take antibiotics. Ji-Ui asks the patient why he changed his mind. The patient says that Ha-Ri told him not to feel guilty for being alive. It will bring a lot of pain to the people who stay in the world.

The patient falls asleep after he got the treatment. Ha-Ri asks Ji-Ui how he knew the patient had diabetes. He tells her that he knew it after she hinted at him. He notices the wound on her leg. She says that it’s fine. But he dresses her wound. She asks him about his secret. She knows he’s in great pain. She tells him that she’s asking him as a nurse. She wants to help him. She will look into it even if he doesn’t confess. The next day, the patient is going to leave the island for the treatment. He thanks Ha-Ri and Ji-Ui. Ha-Ri and Ji-Ui leave the pier. Chun-Sik throws something at Ji-Ui’s face. He tells him that he’s a liar.
