Aang Leaves A Lot of Trouble to Korra
The story of Avatar: The Legend of Korra happens after the ending of Avatar: The Last Airbender 75 years later. Aang passes away after he reached 66 years old. The new Avatar is reincarnation and she becomes a waterbender. The White Lotus manages to find the new Avatar in the Southern Water Tribe. Do you remember how miserable Aang was when he became the Avatar? He had to face the Hundred Year War after he woke from the iceberg. He faced the world the previous Avatar Roku didn’t protect well. Korra is the same.
Aang and his friends build the Republic City. He wishes everyone to live without conflict. In the past 70 years, the technology has a fast progress. It causes the unbalance of the benders and the ordinary people. The problems aren’t resolved after 70 years. Even if the Avatar team enters the city in person, they want to change it from the inside. Aang and Sokka create a parliament. They try their best to formulate the government and the laws. Toph Beifong creates the police station of the Republic City. She leads the students she trained to protect the city together. But there’re gangs appearing in the beautiful city. There’s also disparity problem of rich and poor.
These are the problems that the parliament cannot resolve. Aang knows he leaves a lot of trouble to Korra. So he prepares many things for Korra. He and Katara set up a base in the Southern Water Tribe. A base which focuses on training the new Avatar. Katara becomes a teacher there. She will teach the Avatar the waterbending in person. There’re also waterbending teachers and earthbending teachers. Aang’s leaving means that the last airbender disappears. Who will teach the Avatar the airbending? Aang plans to let his little son Tenzin be the airbending teacher of the next Avatar. Aang and Katara give birth to three children. But there’s only one airbender.
Korra Is Training in the Southern Water Tribe
Korra is training in the base of the Southern Water Tribe. She passes the firebending exam of the White Lotus. She learns the three bending arts except airbending. She learns very fast. Her bending and her physical are fine. But she isn’t self-disciplined well. She’s impulsive and reckless. She does anything she wants to do.
Katara looks at Korra. She remembers the adventure she did with Aang. I have to say Aang is cooler than Katara even if he’s not smarter than Sokka. Korra passes the airbending exam. It means that Korra needs to learn the last bending art airbending. The teachers wish the experienced Tenzin to teach Korra the airbending. Tenzin receives the message. He returns to the South Pole with his family. He visits his mother Katara. He and his children are the only airbenders in the world.
Tenzin and his wife Pema give birth to three children. One of the children is in the belly of Pema. They’re the eldest daughter Jinora, the second daughter Ikki and the youngest son Meelo. They’re all airbenders. Katara predicts that the fourth child in Pema’s belly is an airbender as well. Korra is very happy when she sees Tenzin. She thinks she can learn airbending. But he doesn’t give her a good answer. He’s one of the chiefs of the United Republic Council in Republic City. Something happened to Republic City. He cannot move back for training Korra in a short period of time. He’s the only airbender who can teach her airbending. But Republic City is the dream his father Aang left. He cannot give up the city.
Korra thinks it’s fine. She offers to go to Republic City for training. But the White Lotus goes against it. Because he thinks Republic City is too dangerous. Korra isn’t mature. There will be problems if she goes to Republic City. Tenzin agrees to the point. It’s nothing that delaying the training. Korra isn’t happy with the plan. She thinks the two want to lock her up in the prison all her life. She suspects that it’s the original intention of the Avatar Aang. She wishes to get the freedom. She sees Tenzin and his family riding the flying bison to fly away. She decides to go to Republic City.
Katara stops Korra before she leaves. She knows the era of her and Aang has been over. Korra is the new Avatar. She needs to find the path of maintaining the peace on her own. Katara wishes Korra to be a great Avatar. Each Avatar has an animal accompanying by her side. Aang’s pet is Appa. Korra’s pet is just a female polar bear dog Naga. Although Naga cannot fly, she has a keen sense of smell. Her speed is very fast. Korra says goodbye to her parents. She gets on the ship to Republic City.
Korra Is Arrested in Republic City
Korra arrives in the Republic City Aang and Sokka tried their best to build. The statue of Aang established in the middle of the river. It’s the symbol of Republic City’s peace. Another island is the Air Temple Island. It’s the home of Tenzin. Korra plans to go to the island for giving Tenzin a surprise. But the atmosphere of the Republic City surprises her. The city was built by science and technology. But it’s not peaceful. There’re many homeless people sleeping in the park. There’re also some ordinary people protesting.
A leader who named Amon founds the Equalists. He attempts to take back the power for the ordinary people from the benders. The Equalists protest everywhere in the city. Korra wonders why there’re people going against benders. She thinks the bending arts are cool. It makes the guy think that Korra wants to attack him. She admits that she’s thinking about it. He provokes the people that the benders want to use their bending arts to bully them.
What’s worse, there’re gangs asking the store owners for protection fee on the street. Korra claims that she’s the Avatar. She disallows anyone to do evil things in front of her. The gangster doesn’t know Korra. He claims that they come from the Triple Threat Triad. He thinks the street is their territory. He threatens to beat her. Korra is impulsive. She cannot endure the provoking. She fights the gangsters of the Triple Threat Triad immediately. It’s fine that she beats some people. But she shows the bending arts in front of everyone. The fight of Korra disturbs the order in the street. Many stores are ruined. Do you think it’s the cranefish village lacking police 70 years ago? You’re wrong. The police of the Republic City appear from the sky. They were trained by Toph Beifong. They master metalbending.
The police can control wires and they can fly in the city. They catch the members of the Triple Threat Triad. They arrest Korra who smashed stores. She’s reckless and she even doesn’t know the mistakes she made. She claims that she’s a good person. The police begin to chase her. It’s hard to run away from the police in Republic City. More and more police come. They even send a spaceship for arresting Korra.
