Love in Sadness Korean Drama Recap: Episode 1
Note: From here on out there are specific plot spoilers for Love in Sadness Korean Drama Episodes 1-2.
The man drives home. Another man follows him and hears the gunfire from inside. The first man takes his life in the pool. The woman walks in the rain, and we sees her leg gets hurt. She walks to the road and stops the car with her body.
The woman Ma-Ri draws the flower and listens to the radio. The man Jung-Won says that he wants to restart one’s life to those who are in pain. Ma-Ri takes her phone and spots Jung-Won telling the mc that surgery can save the inner soul of patients.
Ma-Ri’s husband In-Wook returns, so she hides the phone from him. He asks her what kind of flower it is, and thinks it resembles her. She says that it’s her self-portrait. He wants to buy it because he doesn’t want everbody to look at it. He takes her to leave the room.
Ma-Ri looks at the clothes and bags in the room and walks out. In-Wook hugs her and thinks she is beautiful. He has dinner with her but leaves with temper when he talks over the phone. She walks outside and continues watching the video. Jung-Won says that he wants people’s lives to bloom like flowers.
In-Wook startles Ma-Ri and tells her that he has to go to office. She walks in the street but the bodyguards follow her. She tells them not to follow her because she wants to visit art gallery. Jung-Won walks assistant out, and the assistant complains that Doctor Ha is too money-oriented.
Jung-Won returns the office and tells the woman to buy a nice dress after checking the scar on her arm. She is moved to thank him. Ma-Ri arrives at the art gallery but goes downstairs and visits the plastic surgery. She spots the introductions of Jung-Won and Sung-Ho. The woman Ji-Won is scared because she needs to make a comeback after giving birth to her child, so she doesn’t want people to notice that she went under the knife.
Sung-Ho comforts her and claims he aims to natural and perfect beauty. The assistant complains that it’s natural to age. But Sung-Ho thinks the being natural means stay young and beautiful. He says that his hands also change women’s lives.
Ma-Ri walks in when Jung-Won is smelling the flower. He is stunned by her looks. The man tells In-Wook that Ma-Ri stopped by the gallery, In-Wook orders him to find the gallery. Ma-Ri asks Jung-Won to change her looks that no one will recognize her. But he says that aesthetic surgeries aren’t his specialty. She mentions he claimed to change people’s lives. He thinks changing her face won’t change her life.
She says that her face ruined her life. So he offers to introduce her a competent doctor. She says that she must change her looks to survive. She leaves with tears. But he stops her and thinks he cannot help her if she runs away.
Ma-Ri appears at the airport with sunglasses and black hat. In-Wook blocks her way and startles her. He tells her that the person she is going to meet in Shanghai won’t be there. She begs him to let her go, but the bodyguards block her.
Jung-Won tells Ma-Ri to confront it instead of running away. Ma-Ri leaves. He remembers her words. Hae-Ra walks in and asks him to check the painting for her. In-Wook startles Ma-Ri in the kitchen and tells her that her neck is beautiful. He kisses her and tells her that he cannot live with her.
Jung-Won calls his mom Yeon-Hwa and asks her to turn on the song they listened when they first met. Yeon-Hwa is taking care of a woman who falls asleep. He takes a look at the painting and finds out it’s similar to the flowers in his house.
Love in Sadness Korean Drama Recap: Episode 2
Il-Kook is intention to slap his son In-Sang because he slept in. Ma-Ri stops her father-in-law with her body and reminds him that he will be late to work. Il-Kook asks them to sit down and asks In-Wook about the project.
In-Wook claims the secretary will report to Il-Kook. But Il-Kook wants to hear it directly from his son. But In-Wook doesn’t want to talk about work at home, and threatens to eat separately. Il-Kook yells why Ma-Ri is still not pregnant.
His wife Hye-Sook says that Ma-Ri will bring them good news since she is regularly taking the herbal medicine. Il-Kook slaps the table and and thinks his family receive far better treatment than they deserve.
In-Wook walks Ma-Ri out and asks her to smile to him because he didn’t see her smiling for a long time. But she cannot do that, so he leaves. The maid gives Ma-Ri the herbal medicine. But Ma Ri throws them all in the sink.
In-Wook spots it, and she tells him that she doesn’t want a kid. Because she thinks he will lock her up after having the kid. But he explains that he tries to protect her, and he loves her. She yells at him that she wants to breathe.
He takes her to the painting room and asks her if it’s what she wants. She says that she wants to live as Ma-Ri instead of him, and thinks he will treat her paintings as garbage. He says that his love is to lock her up and watch her.
He hugs her and tells her to be by his side and show him her smile and happiness. She pushes him over and points out that he wouldn’t truly love her if she didn’t look like his mom. She says that his mother was pitiful when he is close to her, and thinks she will also meet the same fate.
Jung-Won and Hae-Ra visit Ha-Kyung. Yeon-Hwa tells them to stop visiting because they need their social lives. Hae-Ra is jealous because they only think about Ha-Kyung. Yeon-Hwa says that Hae-Ra automatically became her daughter when her parents passes away. Hae-Ra smirks that she just wants to act like a baby.
Hae-Ra holds Ma-Ri’s painting and asks Jung-Won if he chose it. He says that he will die tomorrow. She is shocked, so he explains it’s what the flower means. But he wonders why it is named “A Self-portrait”.
Ma-Ri’s friend is excited to tell her that her painting is chosen, and asks her to hand in the painting for the exhibition.
Ma-Ri arrives at the art gallery but asks the bodyguards not to follow her. She meets with Woo-Sun in the cafe. Woo-Sun complains that they always meet in secret.
The man shows up. Woo-Sun introduces him as her 30th boyfriend. The man reports to In-Wook that Ma-Ri ran away again, but he located her. In-Wook arrives at the cafe and spots the man talking with his wife.
He walks in and notices Ma-Ri smiles to the man. He asks him who he is and introduces himself as her husband. In-Wook drives Ma-Ri and thinks she looked gorgeous when she smiled. He asks her to show it to him.
She explains that the man is her friend’s boyfriend. But he doesn’t believe it and doesn’t all her to visit her mom alone. She yells at him that it’s her free will.
He parks and wants to slap her. She tells him to do it on her face because she knows that he loves the face most.
