Li Changge asks Qin Lao if he wants to see Gongsun Heng sacrificing for exchange. Qin Lao blames Gongsun Heng for making them see his death. Gongsun Heng holds his sword. He thinks Qin Lao is stubborn like him. He tells him that Li Changge has the path he wants.
Gongsun Heng mentions nobody ran away from the city. He thinks they trust him very much. So he doesn’t want to disappoint them. But he realizes that he will disappoint his families. He notes the camellia blooms so bright. He remembers he planted it when he encountered his wife.

Gongsun Heng says that he knew Madam likes flowers, but he didn’t have time to accompany her. He wishes to see Madam again in their next life. He promises to accompany her. Gongsun Heng pulls out his sword and takes his life. The blood drops on the camellia.
Li Changge shakes Qin Lao’s shoulders. She asks him why he didn’t save Gongsun Heng. He asks her to teach him how to do that. Li Changge asks if it’s worth of it. She thinks nobody will remember Gongsun Heng after many years even if he died in such a way. She adds that nobody will appreciate him.
Madam shows up. She thinks it’s not important to make people remember Gongsun Heng. She says that her husband never cares for what people think. She adds that what he protected was the path to help people. She thinks it was not Gongsun Heng’s sacrificing but the glory as the lord. She tells Qin Lao that she wants to accompany her husband alone.
Qin Lao takes Li Changge away. Madam hugs Gongsun Heng. She asks him when he had the mind. She blames him for not telling her. She says that she knows what he thinks because they have been wife and husband for many years. She mentions he married her with the wedding gift of wild goose. She asked him about his dream. He said that he wants to protect the peace all his life.
Madam doesn’t expect that the promise had taken all his life. She comforts him that the city will be fine. She wishes to drink tea with him. But she knows it’s a wild hope. She takes the sword and thinks she’s so selfish to make Yuan Niang take hard time. She takes her life with the sword.
The sword falls on the floor. Li Changge and Qin Lao hear the sound. The two walk into the room and see the death of Madam. Li Change thinks Madam and Gongsun Heng are fools. Qin Lao asks Li Changge if she knows what is family and what is nation when she cries. He asks her what’s her path since Gongsun Heng asked him to follow her.
