The Prisoner of Beauty portrays the love of Wei Shao and Xiao Qiao. Wei Shao doesn’t like Xiao Qiao in the beginning. But he marries her after she donated a city. He admits that she’s pretty. But he always misunderstands her because of the revenge. Everything goes well after Xiao Qiao knew he carried her into the city. She knows the good side of him. But their relationship is in danger when his mother stepped in. His mother Mrs. Zhu doesn’t like the daughter-in-law. Because she remembers how her husband and her father-in-law passed away.
Xiao Qiao wants to give her heart to Wei Shao after he refused to take any woman as his concubine in The Prisoner of Beauty episode 6. She’s very happy that he treats her as his wife. He gives the honor to her in front of his uncle. But she realizes that it was just his ruse after he asked her to arrange the wedding of him and Zheng Shu. She regrets for trusting him. She sees their relationship clearly. He married her for the benefits. He will treat her as his enemy all the time. But she doesn’t know know Wei Shao is cold to Zheng Shu when the woman tries to give the porridge to him. It indicates that he doesn’t plan to take her as his concubine.
Wei Shao’s Mother Asks Him to Take Zheng Shu As his Concubine

She meets with his son. She expresses that she wishes him to take his cousin as his concubine. He acquiesces it. He wears the shoes she made him. Xiao Qiao was moved when Wei Shao told his uncles that he won’t marry any woman. She thinks it’s so ridiculous when she remembers what she did. She thinks her husband is a liar and he used her to deal with her uncles. He pretended to care for her for gaining people’s hearts.
She knows it very well that her position will be more tougher if she lets Zheng Shu join the family. She knows the girl is scheming even if she didn’t get a chance to talk with her. She knows those maids who bullied her were sent by Zheng Shu.
Xiao Qiao sees it clearly that Wei Shao’s mother wants to threaten her after she refused to listen to the madam’s order. She’s at a disadvantage. But she’s not a pushover. She and Wei Shao’s grandmother got along well after Wei Shao took her to see the madam. His grandmother even gave a pair of jade bracelets to her.

But she comes up with a way soon. She knows Wei Shao’s grandmother is her supporter. The madam helped her when she was in Capital Xin. She knows she will help her this time.
Mrs. Xu doesn’t let Xiao Qiao down. She uses her authority to force Mrs. Xu to give in. She knows she needs to take care of the girl well after she lost her grandfather. She and Qiao Gui admired each other. So they worked on the marriage even if he was the culprit who made the tragedy. She knows he did it because he wanted to follow the heaven’s intention. She stops Xiao Qiao when Xiao Qiao wants to explain it for her grandfather. She decides to let it go because the past is so sad.

Mrs. Xu thinks she has a responsibility to protect the fragile flower. She can retire after the flower grows up. But she needs to be on duty before Xiao Qiao gets stronger.
Xiao Qiao is like her grandfather who became Mrs. Xu’s friend. She knows when she should ask for help. Mrs. Xu is the authority of the clan. She was the one who helped Wei Shao be the master of Wei Clan when others wanted to pull him down from the throne. She made the people subservient to her grandson.
